It’s on the Brighton website

“Other works planned will include the introduction of safe standing in the North Stand, taking place in 2025, which the club recently confirmed; and in 2027 the relocation of away supporters into the south-west corner of the Amex. This will be in the space currently occupied by the Heineken Lounge and associated seating – with the new away area including safe standing for visiting supporters.”

“Moving the away fans will create a new home fans area directly behind the goal at the south stand end of the stadium, and this is expected to include an additional safe standing area, subject to fan demand.”
I took that wording to just mean that away fans will move into a the SW corner & take over existing facilities with the Heineken lounge & its seating. It doesn’t really clearly suggest that extra seating there will be installed… I might be wrong though. But I guess to fit 3000 in that corner then we would need extra seating.

It’s from ITK’s too. Taking away the hospitality seating, will free up space for more seats in total.

@brighton_tom there’s a away of working out the numbers. The club say capacity will increase by 800.
Just need to deduct the number of hospitality seats going in on the new NS shelf, 500?

How many seats does the SWC currently hold?

Capacity is almost exactly 10k greater than when it opened (Newcastle gate in 2011/12 was 10k less than records now). ESU holds 3k, so 1,750 to answer your question. Seats are being added to the rear. Each block of the SS holds a further 750.

Tonight with Brentford Nylons taking so few seats its always easy to move the divider cloth. Doubt be that easy in future and could we end up with home fans chucking stuff to away fans below or vice versa?.imagine Palace in this new away area. An argument for away fans spread was its harder to bring singing together. We already have that in the Northstand with at times NW and North central.Add in some south Stand home singing and it may result in exactly the same as what argument for splitting away fans has been put forward.

In terms of increasing the capacity further, I'm not an architect, but there seems to be space in the north-east corner? At the moment it just has the club's name across that section. Could that space be used for another few hundred seats?

Not sure why the police have a big box where they sit in the warm with a very good view of the pitch. Surely with all the cctv throughout the Amex they could have an area in a back room.
The police box what exactly happens in there?

It's not just for the Police it's the whole security operation. In it's new position it will have direct eyesight across the north stand also.

I've tried to count the new seats in the North and I agree it's approximately 500. I suspect the remaining 300 will be added via a new shelf in front of what is now the Heineken lounge in the south stand, plus perhaps moving the south stand screen away from its current position and suspending it from roof to allow the shelf to extend further.

It's interesting there are no renders of the changes planned for the south stand, and they are the final phase of the alterations planned. Maybe these changes are still not finalised. They could also bolt on a couple more rows to the front of the upper tier of the south west corner.

I just listened to Barber on Albion Roar, and he mentioned the moving of away fans and specifically “building the seats up into where the Heineken Lounge currently is”. This obviously means more seats but I’m trying to understand what this will look like. Has anyone seen these plans? How many more seats are we talking here?

I’ve seen nothing on that in terms of architect drawings. Was searching recently.
