I wonder if some of our fans world be more suited to Man U or Chelsea.

I mean they would still be miserable but at least they wouldn't stand out so much.

‘Hate‘ has nothing to do with it - so stop projecting.

I grant Potter may have been spoken to in the summer of 2022, before the start of the season but don’t think Chelsea were ‘poaching’ Potter the previous season - there’s no way Abramovich would have had Potter very high on a list if at all and Roman was in place until the end of the previous season (May - 2021/22).

Moreover, Boehly had come in to start the 2022/23 season on a massive summer spend (on something like 10 new players) - I doubt that was done with a view or even much thought to sacking Tuchel at that point who’d had a hand in some of the signings. Tuchel was having increasing difficulties getting on with Boehly’s hands on approach though (that forced Tuchel to work closely with the owners which he hadn’t had to do under Abramovich).

Boehly decided they wanted a ‘project coach’ rather than a top coach (eg with proven success at Champions/Europa level) and Potter made himself available - I suspect Potter only became a consideration after our impressive start to the 2022/23 season and once Boehly had decided he couldn’t work with Tuchel.

As for the thread title, we could have been floundering in the middle/top of the Championship for the past 7 seasons. But we haven’t. We have been consolidating ourselves under Hughton, De Zerbi, Potter and now Hürzeler, as a top 10 PL Club. 5 good managers who where right for us at each respective stage of our development.

As @Harry Wilson's tackle says, not really in the Christmas spirit is it to attack any of our past or current managers or accusing Tony Bloom of not having enough ambition.

RDZ gave up the ghost when we wouldn't get him Greenwood apparently.

IDK how true it is but this was a comment I've seen previously
"a massive factor to as why he left Brighton was due to him wanting greenwood and when told no he shit the bed and basically said he’s leaving. After that you saw a massive decline in the team’s performance as well as his general attitude. Didn’t really seem he have a f*** anymore."

"From what I was told it was basically when greenwood was looking to be loaned he said that he’s got buckets of talent. However with Brighton being inclusive and investing a lot into the woman’s team we basically said we have a reputation to keep and it’s not going to happen. That’s basically when he looked like he wasn’t really bothered with the results as he knew he was out the door.

Another factor I believe is the way we sign players, a lot of it is data based opposed to the manager with players in mind. I was told he wanted a midfielder from Italy, I can’t remember his name but he had him at Sassuolo but his wages were a bit too high as well as the club told him “you’ve got baleba, start playing him” (the player from Italy would either be Locatelli or Frattesi)

If true and given his instant acceptance of Greenwood and many other wrongens at Marseille, I'm very glad we didn't sign his players. Bare in mind we also got Dahoud and Fati based on his insistence.

Turns out if you don't give a shit about the fact the players you're signing are abusers you have more chance of getting good players other teams wouldn't sign.

Not to mention the fact that numerous times this season Marseille fans have been unhappy with him, and we're less than 6 months in.

I still think, RDZ is the equivalent of the boy/girlfriend you once had that you just KNEW you were punching above your weight with. You loved it but you always knew, even during the amazing times, it wouldn't last. It was amazing , it then went a bit shit but now feels calmer, stable and long term this could be the one. It's inevitable to try and compare but that's a mugs game. Merry Christmas
