Love this programme and a have been a huge fan of Bob Mortimer for many years. Caught up on the latest series last week and have really enjoyed it, but felt last nights episode was the poorest by a long way. The weather seemed to dampen the first day, Bob seemed to lose interest in the fishing and the banter between the two seemed strained and a bit tetchy. Hopefully back on form next week...

I have just found these on youtube, I have zero interest in fishing but love Bob and Paul.

This is brilliant, but it is making me very homesick for the beautiful UK (The detectorists also does this).

Ted going lala on the beach reminded me so much of my Rosie when she first encountered a beach. Made me smile a lot! 😁

More good news

Really looking forward to this, its become a firm favourite in our house over the years.
My dear old mum loves it too, even though she has no interest in fishing. She is terminally ill, and this programme is one of her few little bits of joy atm, so, as we are spending Xmas Eve with her and my dad, we will definitely be sitting down to watch this with them 🙏

I was a little underwhelmed with last night’s performance. I prefer the shorter “British” version and less time spent promoting the region. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood…

I enjoyed the Christmas episode they did in Norway but like you, far prefer it when they are filmed in the UK or Ireland.

There just didn’t feel like there was any connection or affinity between them and the location last night. They admitted as much during the programme that they were looking forward to getting home and that came across in the mood and tone of the episode.

Disappointing tbh

Don’t normally tune-in but will certainly give this episode a bash as we’ve rented houses in that precise area on numerous occasions, my favourite region on the planet.

We watched it, the area of France was spectacular, but could do with a bit less of Bob being a fool…getting tired with that now, the employee of the year part was cringey…Paul is great though…his fly fishing style is impressive…

As much as I love it, and currently watching past episodes on Dave, I think it's run it's course.

The original premise and easy going chat about life as you get older has, perhaps understandably, been replaced by what seems more scripted episodes.

Having said that, I thought this Christmas special was more enjoyable than the latter part of the most recent series.

All good things come come to an end eventually 🫤
