[Albion] Away fans to be moved at the Amex from 2027/28 (was 2025/26)

That was quick , canvassing 27 000 people for their views and on Christmas Eve too.

I imagine a large majority of Albion fans, don't even know about it or don't really care, there's a relatively small group (3000 people) directly affected and similar small group of people who for some reason are unable to cope with seeing away fans cheering on TV. As for 8-9 points bonus, show your working! Improved acoustics? You have researched that too?

For the club, it's about maxing income, fair enough. The rest of the arguments are just fluff to get the fanboys arguing with affected people like me. Saves the bad publicity and the club can stay out of it. Bit like when Palace booted long term season ticket holders out for the Always Ultras and we all scoffed that that wouldn't happen here.

If you are that sure the SW season ticket holders will be offered "the pick of the ground" presumably you will happy to offer up your season ticket seat to anyone who fancies picking it and then taking pot luck with whichever randoms you end up sitting near in the amazing new improved acoustics that you mention will now be available to the South Stand.

That's what's disappointed some of us, thanks for the empathy!
Read the room , the vast majority on this thread are happy with the change , now i can`t know but i would guess you stood behind a goal at the Goldstone - if true Happy days . Ok a little facetious but basically true , had you all been given South stand seats from the Doncaster game onwards you would be mortified if the club wanted to move you into a corner to accommodate away fans .

Lets be honest i can`t prove it`s 27k that want it and you can`t prove it`s not , but we should be able to agree that every single one of us wants what`s best for the club - and this is best for the players - the atmosphere , and when you`re 2-2 with 5 minutes left home support behind both goals can sway it - just look at Wolves at home and Leicester away . 2 pts in those games could easily have been 4 had it been OUR supporters behind that goal against Wolves and not theirs .

The E-Mail states those being asked to move will be offered a PRORITY MOVING WINDOW TO CHOOSE FROM AVAILABLE SEATING ACROSS THE AMEX INCLUDING FIRST ACCESS TO THE NEW HOME SEATING IN THE SOUTH STAND . They`ve got a nerve haven`t they

Acoustics should improve vastly because since time immemorial the South and North have played off each other , the players will love it and hopefully respond hence the prediction for extra points , most managers admit the fans can make a 10 point shift in a good season - Draws to wins and draws from a losing position it doesn`t take long to make up 8/9 pts .

As for it being about money for the club - well i hope they make a fortune for Tony ( Don`t YOU ) but i think that it is just plain and simply sense .
Crikey i thought i was the paranoid one round here .

Interesting that Bennett’s Field is being used to house the temporary club shop. Seems the student housing won’t be built imminently.

It’s “in progress” according to Downing.

That'll anger jealous nsc'ers ..... Bennett made many £m's.

The process now takes a couple of years or more before construction starts.

I wonder if they'll made 1,900 of the nearest Albion-section SS seats non season ticket?

You'd expect that to be the case.
No need to upset another 1900 or so fans in West Lower (and possibly Upper).

Anyone got any guesses on how far into the WSL the away supporters will be? As someone who has been in W1B since the opening of the Amex I am not overly chuffed about the prospect of sitting with my family within spitting distance of the away supporters...
WIA seems to be divided by the aisle. I got an email saying I’m being relocated but my son who seats the other side of the aisle (next numbered seat) has not. He’s not happy being so close to the away supporters, so it’s impacting others than those that got the email.

Stick them in the SW corner - that’ll work just fine - take away their acoustic advantage- just keep them well away from the mid/lower West near the half way line I don’t want my match experience being drowned out by singing away fans right next to me and there’s no way I will be buying a ticket in the South Stand (ugh!)
Glad the Club has finally listened to the general feeling of the fans. SW corner was always the best solution - away from TV cameras and in an area where vocally, they’ll make the least impact.

I am expecting now that all those home fans who move to the South Stand will make as much noise as the North Stand - no excuses!

Good question - there must be a reason (maybe 32,500 is the absolute max capacity without needing a whole load more infrastructure - eg: more Park & Ride sites, etc. Also I imagine adding that 2nd tier isn't cheap).
Perhaps. Although they have moved the screen...so their must be a plan for that bit. Maybe the police box is going the other side.

Seems odd that the Albion seem to be able to make use of Bennett’s field again. Noticed it’s been used by Adenstar construction for quite a while and now by the club itself. Also by the police a few times for higher profile games. Looks like we have a working relationship with the owners again. Wonder if the student flats will ever get built? Not sure what the student flat market looks like long-term in Brighton? Maybe by the time it got built the student accommodation market might be on the decline? It would seem crazy for the club to have not acquired the prime piece of land right next to the stadium with all of the development possibilities it could bring long into the future?

If the student housing idea changes, they'll get planning permission for residential apartments. I've knowledge of almost identical schemes on the Lewes Road just now.

The foot is firmly in the door. £10m's of profit won't be thrown away.

I think there is a very good chance somebody else will buy that piece of land before the flats are built.

We’ve always had a (small) bit of Benetts Field, haven’t we?

If so, I’m wondering if it’s being squeezed in there somehow.

I'm firmly against this...
1. We already have (at least) 2 groups of singers in the NS, singing different songs at the same time. Possibly 3, once the new shelf gets built there.
2. If we have home supporters in the SS, we will probably have 4 different songs at the same time.
3. If half the West stand hear songs from the SS, and half from the NS, then we get 2 different songs at the same time from the West.
4. However, as I sit in the East, actually it is OK because I can't hear anything from the West anyway - and of course, the rules are that nobody is allowed to sing in the East :)

Clearly the only solution is to knock the stadium down and start again, with proper acoustics this time, and a shelf for away fans (similar in size the new one above the NS, but with hydraulic rams that will lift it to above roof level for when our friends from Selhurst visit, so that they can get soaked / sunburnt).

Merry Xmas to one and all.

Inspired by and based on this post i decided to do a little number crunching.
We have to find room for 3000 away fans:-
W1A to the left of the aisle holds 310
S2I the heineken shelf currently holds 217 taking away armrest seats and squeezing up may generate a few more so maybe 250
S1I holds 257
S1H holds 381
S1G holds 682
S1F holds 524
that makes about 2400 so we will probably have to take half of S1E as well, in other words almost up to the goal itself.

Seems like we are happy for TB to spend his money, but opposed to him trying to maximise his revenue. It’s called business and we are lucky to have someone in charge who also cares about our club.

Or would people rather we got left behind?
Me, I'd rather extra seats which are affordable for all, including our younger fans who are the future of our support not restricted to those who can afford them and all the trimmings but are more likely to use as a business expense and an access for non Brighton fans

Over the years where we sit in this part of W1A there are only a handful of season ticket holders left as many have been moved. The vast majority are sales to non-season ticket holders, concessionary Albion plus, guests etc. so they would not be moving 310 season ticket holders.

The same also applies to the South Stand where the season tickets holders are out weighed by match day purchasers.

So in this respect there may be considerably fewer season ticket holders that need to be moved. it would be interesting to know how many?

This may make it easier for the club to contact people and give them choices.
It will be interesting to see how this is handled.

It does also ask the question where the BHA fans would be put, who buy tickets on a match basis - presumably in the South stand - which may limit where season ticket holders who want to move to the South stand sit.

Also where are the extra away fans in cup games going to be accommodated? If in the South Stand that may inform people who are moving where they want to relocate to.
