Possibly Joey Barton's finest moment's on a football pitch remembered

Funnily enough, that's the only game where he showed his "joey Barton" self in 18 months at Burnley. (Though obviously the time when he jumped 6 or 7 times on a Brighton man, landing him in hospital for 12 months, might be considered naughty as well - though the FA disciplinary panel agreed with the referee that it was not a foul.)

The fat lump Matt Rhead got him well and truly wound up that day. Not his finest hour.

Whilst we're having a giggle at how amusing it was for a professional footballer to make a deliberate attempt to injure an opponent, shall we have another look at the incident? Barton was humiliated by Beram outplaying him throughout the match and turned to the petulant violence of a child, deliberately stamping down on his leg. I know that football makes liars of us all, but in the cold light of day, I don't know how even Dyche could look at this film and pretend otherwise.

The man is a disgraceful coward, an absolute snide. If he'd been in a Brighton shirt, I'd be saying the same thing.

Where’s the fun in that?

Indeed, but most people don't know. I only found out on here recently. It's been quite a gentle swear word in Sussex for several decades.

Barton certainly found a home in that Burnley team. There are as yet undiscovered tribes deep within the Amazon basin, who if they saw Barton for the first time, would insistently know that he is a weapons grade ****.

i have posted this before but I used to have a manager from Burnley way, his father was one George Bray ex Burnley captain, who made over 200 appearances for Burnley. His son, my old manager ….. supported Dirty Leeds ….

I think that's part of the beauty of it for me. You can 'innocently' drop it into some conversations and those who know, know, but those who don't know think you're just being a bit WHIMSICAL...

Berks :lolol:
