I'm afraid anyone who writes off a 20 year old who has just moved to a new country and played a grand total of 6 matches for his new club automatically qualifies for this designation IMO.

Either that or you're on a wind up.

Honestly don't know why I'm wasting my time with this, but I absolutely hate it when people type the sort of nonsense in your original post.

He is a German U21 international, has trained with the German national team, and clearly has huge potential if you've actually watched him play. But don't just take my opinion (and most of the rest of the thread by the looks of it). Here's what Germany legend Thomas Muller had to say last season:
"When you watch him, you see that he has something special. It’s about consistency for him now. That’s why I got his jersey back then and made it public. I thought he was remarkably good,”

I think the point is that it's way too early to be able to form an opinion about the guy. Sure, come back after a season playing at this level and tell us he's no good, then we can argue his opinion is wrong if we like.

Alternatively, if your want to comment on his performance in his first start, (a) at least acknowledge that it's an early look, and (b), why not use the existing thread on Gruda rather than starting a whole new overdramatic one. This way is just trolling.

I do find myself chuckling around this idea that we’re only wrong these days because we’re blinded by entitlement…

As for Gruda, I think he’ll get there and be a very decent PL player, but it will take time and crucially game time to get there and that’s on the coaching team.

Some of our "fans" were writing Wieffier off after about 3 games. Now he's starting to look quite decent (he was in the mix for MOM Saturday before he got injured) we need to move onto the next player who's been here 5 minutes and not yet looking like Ronaldo.
Gruda will score or assist on Friday and so they'll move onto e.g. Minteh.
It's PATHETIC.
I kind of get it with younger, non-local, tik tok fans, but the older, local fans who go? Grow up.

We really need to give our summer signings time to bed in and develop in a side that’s clearly in a rebuilding/development stage this season — for all of them, including the manager. I singled Gruda out on Saturday as having put in a confident debut starting performance which showed plenty of promise if one cared to look.

Maybe perhaps we should give each other a bit of latitude over the Christmas season? - drinking/MH/bereavements/anniversary of deaths - I don’t think this will be the only misjudged thread/POV that will pop up in the next few weeks or people overreacting to them or indeed OTT scapegoating of individual players after we’ve put in lack lustre performances :lol:

Totally agree about the somewhat hysterical over-reaction to some of our players. Someone has a poor game (or even part of a game as a sub) and it's get them out on loan.
We have a really exciting attacking line up and only Welbeck is the finished article, and even he has adapted and improved many aspects of his game. Mitoma is just in his prime. All of the others are young players (including Pedro) who will improve over the next few seasons.

Forget the price tag, less than £40m doesn't get any guaranteed PL quality. He's young, and just starting to get game time (not 5 min cameos). That means he's doing well in training and our coach has seen that! And FYI he was better than half the people on the pitch yesterday, so pipe down.

Rather than shitting on our new signings who will likely need a season to hit their stride, enjoy the fact we're in the top 10, have people coming back from injury, a bunch of young unpolished diamonds being polished and things will only get better as the team gel.
