Nice pub, that one. I sometimes used to go the Champion, another Sam Smiths boozer also in Fitzrovia.

The most curious thing..
Decades ago I used to go to the White Horse (aka Nellies) in Beverley, East Yorkshire which was a fascinating old pub, still lit by gas with loads of corridors and small rooms.
It has been a Sam Smiths pub since 1976. I looked at its Trip Advisor reviews recently, and amongst the five star raves there were some real stinkers about the staff attitudes and management.

Didn't know that was a Sam Smiths. I went in there a few years back and was impressed with the interior - and do remember the lack of TV and music. Which was nice.
