The Year of the Locust by Terry Hayes - his follow up to I Am Pilgrim. Shaping up well.

Hmmm.... I read that. The best I can say about it is...erm... perhaps it wasnt meant for me. Messy and incoherent.
For some reason I decided to read all of the books on the Booker Prize shortlist. I think it’s because I hardly ever seem to read anything published after the 20th century. I don’t think this one is for me, either. Will take a break after this and treat myself to A Christmas Carol.

Yes - thats why I read it too...... I read Orbital, which ended up winning, (which I thought was ok.... ), and then Held.... which .... put me off reading any of the others ;-)

I still have Orbital to read. Also ‘James’ by Percival Everett, who is the only author on the list whose books I’ve read before. Don’t think I will read Huckleberry Finn first though; hopefully James will still make sense.

The Man who pays the Rent - Judi Dench's reminiscences of all the Shakespearean parts she's played. Absolutely fascinating into the roles and how she approached them. I'd seen a good many of them, so it was good to hear what was going behind the scenes
