Oh well, much more game time for Ferguson then

Although I reckon Welbeck would almost have to go on strike before we sanction this mental, from our perspective, move.
Manchester boy wants to return to his home town club, to the club he joined at the age of 11 and stayed for the next thirteen years, and now wants to end his career back home? - no, we're never going to sanction that! Look at the way we dug our heels in over Dan Burn and made his life a misery when he wanted to do the same thing - and he was considerably younger than Danny!

Nah - he's off!

Dan Burn was, at the time, surplus to requirements. Nobody knew that all our centre backs would be out shortly afterwards. Danny Welbeck is possibly our most effective player this season. Let him go in the summer, if he wants to go, letting him go in January shouts a complete lack of ambition to me and shit planning. In fact it would be f***ing madness. Who replaces him and please please don’t say Ferguson who looks like a complete donkey currently

Whoosh! FFS, did you not see the emoji? (and even without it it was glaringly obvious!).

On Sunday I was surprised he wasn't in the starting line up nor the bench, yet I'd not seen any mention of him being injured. I suspect it may well be a case of done deal.
Unlikely.

The club don't tend to update on new injury concerns - they only respond regarding players that were out for the previous fixture. There are times I get wind of these "secret injuries" but I don't tend to let on, aside from a few trusted folk, as the club won't want that sort of information being made known to the opposition.

For example, I knew Veltman was going to be out a few games back, but it wasn't common knowledge until the team was announced.

Ahead of Palace, there was no public inkling that O'Riley was also going to be out.

If United do want Welbeck, and I know there was a fair bit of rumour when Ten Hag was still there, it would be interesting to see how the club play it.

Ordinarily, I think the club would do the decent thing, given Welbeck's relationship with United. See also: Burn and Groß but, as others have said, it would leave us in an even more difficult position up front.

For entirely selfish reasons, I hope they don't.

If true, it does leave us very light again up top with only Pedro and Ferguson available, and I much prefer Pedro at number ten. But obviously if they have/do come in, he’s gone. We might have to look within, Duffus maybe?
Maybe we’ll recall Sima?

I think Sima is half the player Welbeck is but can score goals, is big, fast and powerful.

He lacks experience, first touch, passing and probably game management etc but would be better than Duffus who unlike Sima, has not scored 3 time in the Champions League.

Tight fisted Radcliffe isn't going to waste a few million on a transfer for an aging striker when surely Amorim is hoping to go back to Sporting and get Gyokeres?

Not in January by all accounts.
Maybe not but Radcliffe has already shown how tight he with the changes at Old Trafford with all the redundancies etc. I hardly think he will sanction an acceptable offer for a 34yr old injury prone striker! I wouldn't blame Welbeck for wanting to go back but I just don't see it panning out.

I can see Welbeck going in Jan unfortunately but, if that happens, they will have to pay for it. Danny has still got 18 months on his contract. That and a Jan sale will warrant a big premium.
