Look at the results. The sheer amount of luck to win those games is astounding. The team can’t play a full 90 minutes or anywhere close to a high standard. They’re being bailed by the fact that the league is so open this year
Ah so the good results are pure luck, the bad results are all down to the manager?

In that case every manager in the world is shit.

We kept our best players and added to the squad.
FH’s subs have cost us a haul of points end of.
Yes, we kept our best players from last season when we finished 11th.

We sold our best players from when we got Europe without adequately replacing them.

This summer we spent big, but spent big on young players who need to develop consistency.

With an injury hit squad 11th was decent. No Mitoma, Pedro, March or Enciso to name a few.
The players we signed have bags of experience already, Matt O and Matts W plenty of European experience, Rutter has played in the championship and the PL before. Ferdi has played in the European championship and also had plenty of European experience.
Obviously we signed others with less experience although the main signings aren’t young ducklings thrown into top flight football.

They all, bar Rutter, have no experience of PL football and as a lot of players tell you it takes time to adjust to the physicality of the league. Alexis Mac Allister mentioned that it by far the toughest thing to adapt to in a recent interview with Gary Lineker and he’d played over 100 games in South America when he eventually joined up with our squad.

It’s no surprise the one new signing with previous experience of the PL is one the who has hit the ground running. The challenge of meeting the physical side of the game is the same no matter how old a player is. They still need time to develop and adapt. You hope that the more experienced they are the quicker they learn but to expect Wieffer or MOR to be dominating after so few mins actually on the pitch is ridiculous.

Both have shown good and bad signs and need some patience and support not a pile on every time they make a mistake.

what i want to know is, since everyone keeps referencing the £200M spend, why no centre backs were brought in when everyone saw how dreadful the defence was under de zerbi last season

I'm not sure spending £200m suggests Tony Bloom expected instant results. I think it suggested he wanted to deepen the squad substantially to be competitive this season and, most importantly, for years to come as we'd lost a lot of key talent too quickly.
I remember Paul Barber on TS talking about the big spend when asked and his answer was simply to keep competitive in the Premier league. Nothing about going for it or challenging for top 4. Yes, the club would like another European adventure and maybe a trophy but primarily it is to stay competitive which we are doing. The only issue we have is this giving away leads which is costing us badly. We're still 7th in a massively competitive league and with a rookie manager at this level it's always going to take time with all the new additions and formations. It's been gutting to let so many points slip when it's so open presently!

Some people are so embarrassingly fickle. We all know that if Igor hadn't made that mistake and gifted Leicester a goal yesterday, at least some of today's ranters would be full of praise for FH for another away win, and how marvellous to be 5th in the table...

Just get a grip, people. We're having our best ever Prem season. We're 40% of the way into the season, and we're still in the European places. Hürzeler is doing a good job but sure, he can obviously do even better (just like all of us). And I'm certain that he's more aware of that than anyone here, and will already be working on it.

Equal points after 15 games as 2022/23.

This result is a massive blow for Hurzeler. He will have lost a lot of the fans after this.

He really needs to get us out of this rut PDQ. He is potentially a few bad results from the sack now.

I don't think the great start of the season was fluke, but he needs to prove that he can fix some glaring issues which are costing us points, in order to demonstrate he is a Premier League quality head coach
