It's been a much tougher week than last week, all 4s and 5s, compared to a string of 3s.

Not especially- I rarely get 2’s - mostly 4 and 3s and have done for years - that was only 2 3s in a row this week though!
I also forget to post or even do it every day so have a terrible streak record.

I prefer Quordle tbh - always get those within 6-8 guesses
If it helps - I come up with a random starter word every time - Always with two vowels, two common consonants and one unusual consonant - also I do it very quickly (under 3 minutes, usually in 2) , no cheat lists, no pen and paper - ie don’t overthink otherwise you end up with too many choices!

Looking at your SMIRK example though it clarifies a difference. I pay on the ‘hard’ version of wordle so I could not have used DREAM as my second guess as I would have been required to use the I.
Each to their own and as we know it’s only a game

I play the hard version of Wordle like everyone else on this thread so there’s no ‘difference‘ or any reason to think I am playing with an advantage.
Quordle and Wordle Unlimited don’t have hard versions!! I just showed you that as an example of the type of starter words I use in Wordle - designed to exclude common endings and letter pairings.
( I think once I didn’t because I was using my phone and hadn’t signed in and had banged it out so quickly I forgot.)
TBH you are right, it is only a game so don’t worry about your scores or mine - I don’t- lots of people here use lists of words used previously etc - I honestly can’t be bothered with all that nor am I that competitive
