PSR has changed everything and sale prices will be depressed compared to previous seasons. This will have a knock on effect on the sale prices and model of the final stepping stone clubs like us and those of the clubs we buy off.

If you want upwards of £70m now it has to be for an exceptional player. I'm not sure Joao Pedro fill this category yet. He has had quite a few injuries and he's not really making the Brazil side despite the fact they are struggling. His scoring record is decent, but not spectacular. Let's see how the rest of the season goes.

Anyone looking to buy him will likely be thinking, start at around £45m and maybe go to £55m. That's only a modest profit for us given the risk and outlay we put down. If we qualify for Europe i'm confident Tony would turn this down. Possibly if we don't then it's more attractive, especially as the replacement is at the club. But i'm still not totally convinced we'd be selling for that
I understand your point about PSR but I think you're wrong about the figures clubs would offer for Pedro.

Last summer Newcastle bid 65m for Guehi. Bayern bought Olise for 65m. We paid 40m for Georginio a player with only 11 premier league appearances.

There's no way that clubs will stop at 55m for Pedro if he continues as he is. If he keeps improving then 55m will be the laughably low starting point IMO.

We might not get 100m for him but I'd be surprised and disappointed if we got less than 70. I'd be even more surprised and bloody elated if he was still with us next year. Love him!

If we make Europe, I can see him staying. If we don’t, I can see his agent touting him out in the summer.
I guess that depends of what European competition we find ourselves in if any. We aren’t good enough are we realistically? Southampton have took one point in six games yep that was against us and they could have won it.

Might as well start with £110M and see if any club bites.

There's going to be a real tug of war on this one with us wanting £80m+ and buying clubs crying about their financial status, claiming we're being unreasonable for wanting so much. As usual I guess.

The media will link him away from the club around the £35m mark.

Clubs will make bids around £35m which will be promptly rejected.

A few back and forths, £50m, £60m... if a bidding war starts then we could probably get in excess of £70m.

If we really don't want to sell him, and he seems happy to stay, then we could be seeing another £100m+ fee.

How much is he worth? Probably around £70m in today's market, given his age, position and ability.

£65 million.

Oh, sorry, I seem to have left my wallet at home.

~£100m.

Don't think there are any takers next summer unless he is super good in the spring. Could see him staying another year.
But a lot might depend on his chances to play for Brazil in the next World Cup. If Brazil manager Dorival calls him up in the spring, he might want to stay to be 100% sure to be a starter, which might not be the case in a monster club. Likewise, if he says "nah we need to see you in Champions League to call you up", JP might want to move.

Paris SG or Bayern might be likely options. He's not good enough to be interesting for Real or Barca, the Italian teams can't afford him and in the PL I don't know who would spend £100m on a no 10. Maybe if he seen as a striker, in which case several top clubs should be interested. But he is much more of a number 10 as I see it.

£98M including add ons , although probably more if Chelsea are interested.

The problem with people saying 80m+ is that nobody can afford to pay that, so something has to give. Either we accept a lesser offer because that's what the market can afford or we hold on to a potentially unhappy player although JP doesn't seem like the type to throw his toys out the pram.
Not yet ???

£125m. Not a penny more and not a penny less.
