Sandals Royal Bahamian you mean? I lived just West of there for a couple of years. They used to show the sports at a divey bar in run-down hotel at Treasure Beach about a mile West of you along West Bay. I’d check they still have that before heading there though. Great conch fitters if you do go

As a tourist, I'd think the same. It was not a bad place to work in offshore finance, with the total absence of personal taxation, weekends in the stunning Out Islands like Abaco, Eleuthera, Green Turtle Cay or hop on the Chalks flying boat from the harbour after work on a Friday over to downtown Miami, amazing diving, cheap eats and drinks at local places outside the tourist area. Most of the sport was US-oriented though, with footie and cricket a bit of an expat interest

I watched the game a few years ago where we beat Arsenal in a Golf Club in the Turks and Caicos. I had to go in cold and beg them to put it on as the hotel I was in had told me it was the only place likely to have it. Total disinterest from everyone else in the clubhouse but I was very pleased they agreed to turn it on just for me.

Didn’t like the Bahamas much. Expensive,Nassau in particular is a bit of a dump, and the resorts are full of noisy Americans. 2 stars 🤣
I went there a few years ago for New Year. Within a few hours of walking along the Main Street in Nassau I’d already seen the aftermath of 2 school kids gunned down in broad daylight on a corner where I had been minutes earlier, and warned not to carry on walking where we were walking near the Botanical Gardens as we wouldn’t get out alive. I’m sure the resorts and outlying islands don’t have these issues but the newspaper carried the story the next day saying it was something like the 7th murder in Nassau that year already. Picture postcard buildings and all that but ……

Next time try the Green Turtle Club, reachable by boat from New Plymouth, off Abaco (delightful little town founded by pro-British escapees from the Carolinas after the US war of independence)

ps: Paradise Island sounds better than Hog Island, the original name before the mob invested in hotels on PI
