Actress Marilu Henner is the same way. She is from Chicago and was on the TV show Taxi with Tony Danza, Danny DeVito, Judd Hirsch and Andy Kaufman.

That must be truly exhausting.

Fascinating read - thanks.

Indeed we were, but we had two wins on the bounce to look forward too against Hull 3-0 and a mightily impressive 3-2 against Fulham who were riding high.
We then went on to not lose another home game all season, with some memorable games, fans United 5-0 thumping of Hartlepool, a very fiery encounter with Orient, I think wins over Wigan and Cardiff also flying high.
You could look at it as the turning point, bloody nerve wracking though, countless sleepless nights full of evil thoughts of what I would do too Archer and hoping I would win the lottery to help the Albion, anything something, but we did it in the end.

Puts all the moaning about drawing 2-2 away at Leicester in the Premier League into perspective really.
Didn’t we also beat Crewe 1-nil at the Goldstone when they were top? That was a mighty impressive result also.

That depends on which website you look at. This one forgets our points deduction and has us safe as houses: https://www.xscores.com/soccer/england/league-two/1996-1997

This one relegates us because it goes on GD not GS: https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-division-3/1997/

Having survived the threat of relegation, how long did it take to get permission to play at Withdean?
How long did it take to get permission to build the Amex?
The protests, the lobbying, Dick Knight keeping the club afloat were all necessary to get us Falmer.
But that was after we had survived the threat of relegation.

I got pelters on here some years ago for questioning the actions that got us the points deduction. We came close to getting a second.
Had we been relegated, we would not have been allowed into the Conference, playing outside of Brighton and Hove.
Then the club would have died.

We survived 28 years ago because results kept us just above the relegation line.
In the face of a points deduction (I can't even remember why we got it - a pitch invasion was it not?)
That's it.
Without that, no club.

You might be thinking of Wigan. We beat them 1-0 towards the end of the season.

Interesting that our home form was superb under Gritt that season but we were still dire away.

Yep.

Points deduction was originally three points suspended from the previous season. It was applied and fixed at 2 after the pitch invasion that @kevo references. Had it been the full three....

That Fulham game was a cup match, but the nature of the win (golden goal by James Virgo in the 1st minute of extra time) definitely added momentum.
