Worthing
When I was 12, I won ‘Sportsman of the Year’ at my school. I didn’t excel in any particular sport, but I was a good all-rounder and I was told that I never gave up.

Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there!

Eastbourne Junior Table Tennis (1982?) Doubles Champion. I lost to my doubles partner in the Junior Boys Final. Don't ever call it ping pong!

2 memories.
1/ Playing the US Open South Course at Torrey Pines golf course in San Diego in a "foursomes" format and coming under par for the course. We played the week after the US Open in 2008.
2/ Completing the 2008 Atlanta Peachtree 10k Road Race with the wife on her birthday. I made a point of finishing in front of her!

Played a bit of football as a teenager ended up as part of Stevenage Athletics youth team. As a result played a few matches as right back for the first team as a 16 year old in the southern league. One of which was an away match against cliff jones who happened to be playing as a left wing.Christ he could still shift even though he was in his mid thirties at the time. Also had the pleasure of playing a charity match against Tommy Steel, tibor zacash, think I have spelt that right and Ron springett. Quite lucky really

I had a very mediocre 'career' in amateur sports.
I rowed and coxed for Shoreham, played football for Shoreham Utd, Green Jacket, Patcham North End and Churchill Rovers and never won a thing.
I think my best memory was my first regatta in Southampton Head of River.

This thread reminded me that I wrote a blog on this topic about nine years ago.
