Remember Trump will be president in 2026 so human rights during the US/Canada/Mexico WC might be an issue too. Don't take anything for granted.

Well, FIFA have brought us to Rome. Our FA need to gain guarantees from FIFA that all England fans travelling to the World Cup will be subject to the same fair treatment by Saudi law regardless of sexuality or gender identity.

Just when you thought Blatter was the worst thing football had ever witnessed.
Problem with Japan is that they didn't apply. Australia considered it but were only given a month to come up with their bid and decided not to proceed as they thought the result was a forgone conclusion .... which obviously it was.I would like to see FIFA just once leading the way in ethical sponsorship and not again helping States with shocking human rights and environment records to sportswash their way into international football.
Japan totally could have hosted the 2034 WC. And think how that would have put Brighton back on the map with Mitoma being a UK ambassador for Premier League football
After Qatar yet another WC I won't be watching a second of .... even if England get to the final. I'll be 64 that year so maybe I'll just listen to the Beatles on repeat for the WC weeks instead of watching.

Four years between World Cups is an extremely long time. There was a crowd of only 504 in a Saudi Arabian top flight match very recently. The rich league will have crashed and burnt by then hopefully.
I'm looking forward to 2026 and late night matches in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Brazil 2014 I cleared the bookies out with some spectacular wins.The group match with Edin Dzeko first goal (7/2) and Bosnia to beat Iran 3-1 (28/1) with the scorecast @ 110/1 - around those odds. Incredibly memorable!

passed me by that 2030 is co-hosted between Spain, Portugal and Morocco... and Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. FIFA lost the effing plot.

Japan put a bid in for the 2022 WC which was won by Qatar - that would have been their 2nd WC so why couldn’t they bid for the Asian leg of the 2034 WC?
In 2010, The Japanese Football Association Bid team decided to concentrate solely on winning the right to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup which they wouldn’t surely have done if it had been too soon after their joint hosting with South Korea in 2002?
Yes and in the new rotation Oceania and Asia’s had the right to host in 2034..

I don't think so. I'd say that the UK is probably in the top five in the world for appointments for international events.
By the end of this decade we will have had just about every major international tournament here, bar the World Cup, in the previous 20 years.
Problem with the World Cup is Europe is only one in three now. We would have bid for 2030 had it not been for for the very Millwall type idiots in 2021 and a free run on Euro 2028.
Talking of Euro 2028, England still have to qualify for that as only two host nations get an automatic spot. That will be a first.
So could Germany or the USA (infrastructure already in place) but they've both had or will have had it enough for now. It'll be 44 years since Italia '90 - they could easily host it again. And there's one country which hasn't had it for over 50 years which could put it on almost at the drop of a hat!Japan totally could have hosted the 2034 WC. The other disgraceful thing is FIFA imposing the requirement for would be host countries to provide multi-million pound presentations and round the world flights and hotels for FIFA gravy train pass-holders - all that should be needed is a willingness to stage it, and proof that the infrastructure is/will be there.
I've pretty much lost interest in the World Cup, TBH.
To be fair it doesn't cost much money when you get slaves to build the infrastructure.
Unless we're going to start counting the cost of human lives, but we don't want to start doing that do we? Do that and we'll have to rename it the Blood World Cup or something unsavoury.

Apparently Fifa don't want to compensate the families for losing their loved ones while building stadiums. Just make a small donation to charity.

Yes, that was my understanding too not that they couldn’t because it was too close to their 2002 host with SK.
They decided in 2022, that they would focus on 2050 instead and the plan has been in the making for nearly 2 decades but they do still have most the stadiums from the Tokyo Olympics too which have been converted to rugby and football stadia.
