We've been linked with a few young wingers recently and whilst you might think "more wingers is the last thing we need" I guess it's the prep work for when the current winger move on for big money.

We have the likes of Osman, ACD, Sarmiento, arguably Barco and Buonanotte, all as wide players out on loan, and Enciso, Gruda, Minteh and Adingra getting limited minutes as backup.

It might need a few more big money sales to come in yet.

Not all of those will get to the level we want.

Is there a way of defining or understanding this level?
Perhaps Mitoma's skills and ability? Or setting the bar lower at Adingra. That said some may opine that Adingra is not at the required level anyway.

Adringra is a busted flush, had a fabulous tournament obviously and that’s his peek, I can see him moving to Italy or Spain.

He’s way better on the left, agree not very effective on the right. If we go back to Liverpool away last season we was running riot first half on the left.
Unfortunately for him he has a Mitoma sized problem.

It's all balancing risks, sure, but still I hope we don't just end up hoarding players like Chelsea-lite. Maybe that's just the reality of the model.
It's all gossip, I appreciate, but we are being linked with a lot of young wingers currently.

Tom Watson at Sunderland is another one. Reportedly they knocked back a few firm offers from us in the summer. He's since broken into their first team and scored a couple of goals, and we're still being linked.

I'm sure there is a method to the apparent "buy all the young wingers" madness.

Ha! I had a retort from Andy Naylor on X when I said that his article had an error because he’d described Simon as predominantly a right winger and I said he was much better on the left. He swiftly corrected me and said that Simon had confirmed to him he preferred the right!???
