Where do you see Diego competing for a place in due course?

In the engine room with Wieffer and Baleba?

In behind the main striker with O’Riley and Joao Pedro?

On the right in the forward line with Minteh and Georginio?
My understanding is that he is a CAM who likes to drift to the left and can play LM/LW - somewhere in between the positioning of Joao Pedro and Mitoma.

I think he might be more CM than CAM.

He looks like a genuine all rounder though, playing LW 14 times certainly says that to me. He has got a very good shot on him, can pass and tackle with good (but not outstanding) pace.

He has played CM, LW, RW and DM for his national side which highlights his massive versatility.

Definitely not a pure DM by any means though. From the various highlights I’ve seen, he reminds me of Steven Gerrard in style with the caveat that he he won’t get to that world class level of performance but could still be a top 6 EPL player.

Any thoughts on how and his mate Enciso could play together, before we send the latter out on loan ? Worth a punt in the Cup ?

Chelsea Todd's been on the blower with a £300m offer for him...

I hope he’s amazing but our squad looks horribly unbalanced right now with attacking players and not enough defensive options. The CAM area is particularly congested and hard to see how we keep players happy.

The missing piece to complete our midfield and knit everything into place to secure our top for finish.

No pressure Diego. 😂

Is he allowed to start training with the squad on a day to day basis?
Or does he have to wait to be registered?
I believe he can train with the squad, he only needs to be registered to play.

Plenty of out of contract players train with clubs.

I would imagine he can't do that until his work permit has been obtained. Not sure of the exact steps to make that happen - I'm sure someone on here will fill in that detail.

Yeah, it’s definitely the No. 10 position where we’ve been short of numbers.

Bobby Zamora isn't allowed to coach our players as he has no coaching badges. He is allowed to be a "striker consultant" though.

I would guess there are ways and means to keep Diego Gomez out of the pubs and arcades of Brighton for the next few weeks.

Going straight on loan I think. Needs to adapt to European football somewhere that isn't the PL.

Based upon postings in regard to other foreign signings by @Joey Jo Jo Jr. Shabadoo, Albion won't be able to apply for Gomez' work permit until he has signed his Albion contract (which is presumably what he is here to do now). And he may need to leave the country and re-enter once he has that work permit.

Given the way Albion operate, there is no way they will allow Gomez to start work (ie training etc) until all the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed.

(Bobby Zamora is a UK citizen so it is a completely different scenario - I'm sure Albion don't want to fall foul of the nation's employment regulations).
