There most certainly have been:

We're Brighton & Hove Albion, we're top of the league (we never forget)

We're Brighton & Hove Albion, Brighton & Hove Albion FC <clap, clap> we're the greatest football team etc

The world has seen the glory of the coming of the lord. He plays for Brighton & Hove Albion and his name is Peter Ward

There must be more.
Well, Peter Ward was my era, but I certainly don't remember that!... ... ... or the others, come to that! Mind you, from my favoured position, towards the south end of the West Stand, never really paid to much attention to what the North Stand was shouting - just joined in with the Aal-bee-on, Aal-bee-on chants!

Do people actually understand what im saying because the way people are talking about it, i dont think you all are actually getting what change im suggesting.
It's very simple my friend. You are asking for the city to be renamed Brighton.

Brighton is a historical town. Hove is also a historical town. In a way they are twins. Hove, mostly, the more elegant and articulate one. Brighton, however, very fashionable but with a somewhat licentious feel and a bit of a maverick. Despite being different in nature, they have comfortably got on together because they are family and they love each other really. Hove has got a little bit snakey because Brighton is so out there that folk often forget about them- the very thing your proposal seems to endorse.

They were united as one 'city'. But that was just an administrative thing. Nobody really celebrated it and precious few care. Brighton is a town and Hove its next door neighbour. Think Bournemouth and Christchurch, Paignton and Torquay.

You are suggesting that the 'city' that most of us ignore anyway becomes just Brighton. Now as much as some may have a beef with Hove (I can hear me old dad when he said 'They've been living of our services for years') if Hove is stripped not just of its name in the new title but even a chance to go back to being a town, like any sibling we would take up arms against it. Hove is not a suburb of a city called Brighton. It has a unique identity.

Has anyone here ever referred to Western Road as the city centre ? Me neither. Does anyone say they are going into town ? Thought so.

As I said, Brighton was made for Saturday night madness, Hove for a gentle Sunday morning after. Long may it continue. And thankfully it will.

This smacks of someone who got made redundant, left with a WODGE of cash and, instead of spending it on the extension the wife was discussing, he instead pumped it into his dream business venture. Creating 89,000 mugs with "Hove, the Pride of Brighton, actually" on. only to realise Hove isn't in Brighton and he can't tell the wife.

This is the only opt

But your talking about the past. Brighton and Hove is a city even if you dont call it one. Hove wouldnt be going back to being a town it would carry on exactly how it is seen now, in its unique way. Poeple in any city use the phrase going town. Like i said i think its a good idea but if poeple dont thats fine.

Brighton (was) a historical town. Hove (was) also a historical town. In a way they (where) twins. Now it is one unified city under one unified administrative authority which is what i am saying.

The world has seen the glory of the coming of the lord
He plays for Brighton & Hove Albion and his name is Peter Ward
Other teams all hate him for the goals that he has scored
And the stripes go marching on, on, on!

Glory, glory Brighton & Hove Albion
Glory, glory Brighton & Hove Albion
Glory, glory Brighton & Hove Albion
And the stripes go marching on, on, on!

(has to be said that 'Brighton & Hove Albion' was very much sung as 'Brightonovealbion')
