I find people ordering coffee more annoying. In the time it takes the bar person to make it from that big fancy machine they could of served half a dozen drinks. It's a pub not **cking Costas !!!

Mysteriously the coffee machine in one of the pubs where I worked would always break when we were busy but would always fix itself by the next morning when I was setting up.

This is why I love micro pubs. No cocktails and one stout that doesn’t take an hour to settle. Likely still full of loyal locals who like the beer and professional bar people who know who’s next. Very likely to be avoided by Mandy in HR when she realises they’re not playing Last Christmas on a loop. Lovely.

Going to The Albert for a gig on Tuesday. It’s my brother’s band ( who are really good) and I normally love that pub but I do have the fear that there will be at least one office party in, given the location. Hopefully not.

I have a slightly different slant on Amateur Drinking December.
Having spent a career in the brewing and pub industry, we were thoroughly professional pub goers and drinkers so were fully conversant with pub etiquette and also knew that the run up to Christmas was a time to best avoid trying to do business of any sort with those running the pubs and just let them get on and serve all their customers, ‘both amateur and professional.’ We didn’t tend to have Christmas celebrations down the pub or often none at all as we were probably looking forward to time away from pubs! Most Christmas celebrations tended to be in hotels or restaurants where a more orderly piss up could take place!
Off duty, as a regular I used to have a great time in my local pub which never attracted many amateur drinkers and it was great to be just one of the customers.
Happy days.

I ****ing hate pubs in December. It's ****head central. Amateur drinking doesn't come close to describing the ****wits who get drunk on 4 pints of Carlsberg and make a complete ****** of themselves. Pubs full of works Christmas parties where people who only go to the pub once a year - just **** off!

Rant over.

And a very Merry Christmas to you and yours,@ManOfSussex

Shout out to the bloke in the designated away hell hole which was 4 deep at the bar in Leicester tasting a few watery ales before making his choice for the least worst option.

Absolutely a group came in my local yesterday and were asking what herbal teas they do. They seemed shocked when they said they didn't.

Just waiting for a Chinese and am doing the time honoured tradition of having a pint whilst I wait. Amateur drinking hour seems to have a bumper crop this year :

1. 3 old boys - drinking halves natch - blocking off one corner of the bar so no one can order.
2. 8 lads who've never seen a pair of tits between them ordering and paying for drinks separately. I blame the parents.

The sound track to this is 2 gobby blokey blokes laughing loudly who will be having a "These days" convo very soon.

Christmas drinking season is upon us folks. Anyone else got examples of people who should be stoned for their incorrect pub etiquette?
This month's Real Ale Twats in Viz is specifically around this point; it ends with our titular hero (who starts the strip by scoffing at all the part time drinkers) sloshed off his nut being held up & singing The Pogues.

To be fair, I was ordering Lager and I hate the Pogues.
