That was Howe. Howe turned the ship around long before Ashworth had done anything.

And what did he do other than prize BDB away from us? Good signing, mind.

He didn't even prize BDB away from us. Dan Burn joined Newcastle while Dan Ashworth was still in post at Brighton. It was about a month later that it was announced he'd resigned and been placed on gardening leave.

Would prefer to hear the story before being too damning TBH. There’s obviously been a major disagreement about some element of club strategy. Wonder what.
“We don’t buy potential, we buy ready made so you might as well f*** off” ?

I'm not sure about that. More likely that Brailsford wanted to make all the decisions and so there was no role for Ashworth.
Had wondered whether Ashworth was asking questions of those above him who weren’t moving in the right direction and they’ve decided he has to be the fall guy rather than them

Let’s be honest it’s a shit show of a club, there’s been mass redundancies and questions are being asked about people’s usefulness and value add. I suspect Ashworth (who knows what’s he’s doing as he has the track record) has been asking some difficult questions which may or may not undermine those above and below him.

If they won’t listen to him there’s no point him being there

I take it you're not known as being the patient type?
I assume you didn’t read the posts that led to that post. If you had, you’d have seen that I questioned the poster who said that Weir was an upgrade on Ashworth.

Given that, the point isn’t that I lack patience with Weir, rather that based on what I’ve seen so far, the splurge of £200m by Weir doesn’t suggest that he’s been an upgrade. You may choose not to believe that’s a fair point, but I think it is. Weir still has a lot to prove.

I would call it a massive investment in our premier league squad.
Which was exactly what was needed.

You may have noticed that we have had our best ever start, despite having one of the worst injury lists in the division.

We have also invested in some of the highest rated young talents available.

But sure a Splurge...
A splurge is defined as the act of spending money freely or extravagantly. For all your posturing, you’ve picked a strange part of my post to single out.

Whether you appreciate it or not, a £200m spend by one club is absolutely huge, and by far and away our biggest ever outlay.

If that doesn’t constitute a splurge, I don’t know what would?

In fact, seeing as you’re being so pedantic, what do you think would have constituted a splurge? £400m? £500m? £1bn?

I suppose Weir didn’t spend half of the budget on a gambling addict so he’s already one up on Cashworth.

Loyalty is a great asset, this guy has none. Future employers only have to look at his record to realise he is a shyster who got lucky when he was employed by our club.

I can’t recall the exact details but I do remember not fully understanding what his exact role was given there is also a bunch of Sir Jim’s men making decisions as well. Maybe they realised they don’t actually need him?

He got lucky....period! He is a very lucky - and wealthy - man. Obviously he has skills and ability, which he's made the most of, one of which is being in the right place at the right time!

Utter mercenary but actually very good at what he does. I suspect this says more about Manchester United than him.

Football so hard to understand. Thought of by so many as outstanding. Utd waited for 8 months while on garden leave from Newcastle and have now sacked him.

Bloody hell, that's the third time at least they've sacked him today.
