Had my fifth bout of radiotherapy today.
Seems to exacerbate the tiredness I already feel from the Hormone treatment, and I have also become a bit absent minded/ forgetful.
Did anyone else experience anything like that during treatment?

I finished the radiation a month ago ago . I found the process quite gruelling at the time .I think the daily enema drained me and constantly wanting a wee . I have been passing blood but just about ok now . I am. back to the gym and playing badminton. Just waiting to hear about an appointment. How long should I wait to be seen as no one has contacted me yet ?

I start my Radiotherapy in January, been along time waiting due to Polyps bleeding. That had to be fixed 1st ,then I had to have a barrier gel injected into the same spot they took the biopsies. The plus side is that I now don't have enemas,just a daily laxative. Been today to get scanned and tattooed ready for January. How many sessions of Radiotherapy did you have ? I've got 20 ,which is less than I originally thought. Because of fast growing cancer it's a shorter cycle of treatment . Wish you well mate , hopefully you'll get your appointment soon

Hi , I had a total of 20 sessions at Preston Park clinic . Before each treatment you need an empty bowel but a full bladder which can be sometimes awkward . You are required to have an enema 2 hours before but some people missed out sometimes.If you have something in you even air they can pick up and stop treatment. 40 minutes before you are required to drink 500ml of water and this can be challenging to hold onto . The staff are great and the radiation is painless .You treatment times will be all over the place from 9.06 in the morning to late afternoon . I was absolutely fine to drive but everyone is different . There are parking spaces there and you will be given a code. My after effects are are fading so onwards and upwards. Good luck to anyone having radiation or chemotherapy of course .

In the booklet I was given, it says that the first follow up appointment will be approximately 3 months after you finish your radiotherapy course.

I am having my radiotherapy at Preston Park Centre too.

As you say, holding on to a full bladder can be challenging!😁
I also agree about the staff, very helpful and professional.

You will feel a lot better once the Hormone treatment has finished.

Hi guys. I seem to be a bit behind you all. PSA 24 I'm 2 months into the hormone therapy. Taken the 28 tablets and had my first of 4 jabs over a year, which lowers drasticly your testosterone. Feeling very tired, sleeping around 9 hours although I'm up a couple of times a night for a wee. Talking of getting it up, forget it! Testosterone controls muscle strength, erections and the size and function of the penis and testicles
But I'm alive and have many years left in me.

Evening Colin, as you've said, great to see yr still breathing :wink:
To counteract yr lack of muscle strength, try doing pelvic floor exercises, it certainly does help. I do them all of the time and has helped me, especially in the waterworks dept.
I use the Squeezy App, and its great.
It's also comically known as nuts to guts or testicles to spectacles :lol:

I finished my RT on November 1st at
Eastbourne Hospital
Nurse rang me a week or so later, to get me to book a blood test at my GP.
That's this Thursday, follow up phone call in two weeks time from doctor at Oncology with results.

I was with friends from Wales who know him well from the Velindre treks (they were in some of the photos and the video at the end). It was 'challenging' for many I'm sure, in terms of what the implications of a cancer diagnosis, treatment and outcomes are, and some of the humour which was at times unPC, but if it makes it less of a taboo and helps to prepares us who are currently unaware, who are likely to be affected by cancer either directly or indirectly.

And as far as his 'craft' as a comedian is concerned, he did a full set about an inherently unfunny subject and it was very funny.
