We really do.

Although, looking at our injury list, guess where Kadioglu, Hinshlewood, Webster and Milner can play. All would have been a better RB option than Adingra / JPVH / The Invisible Man (which is what it seemed to rotate between).

Exactly what we were saying in the car on the way back.

The club would have thought, not unreasonably, that we had a wealth of "can play at right-back" options but, as you say, they're all injured at the same time.

This has inadvertently confirmed something I’d wondered how to raise. You have a Brighton supporting doppelgänger.

I was trying to attract their attention on the train home to say hello but I was unsure why you’d suddenly started wearing club badged baseball caps and a different coloured raincoat. The “it’s probably not him” was confirmed when “you” got off a Worthing bound train at Haywards Heath.

Now the puzzle is complete. Unless you have a twin.

Was it Ian Baird?

Well, except Lamptey.

Bit odd (and telling) that when we finally try a wing backs, he isn't starting despite the lack of options.

But, and I appreciate I have banged on about this a lot over the last couple of years, I do think the club have been complacent for the past two seasons with regard to right back.

Yes Ferdi, Hinshelwood and Milner at a push can all fill in at right back but they’re not ideal there and we’ve basically gone two seasons with one specialist right back in Veltman who has struggled with his fitness in that time and will only play less as he turns 33 next month. You just can’t include Lamptey as an option as he’s made of glass so hardly ever available and to be honest, not up to Premier League standard defensively.

It’s caused us so many issues over these two seasons, with all the money spent, I can’t believe we haven’t done something about it. Maybe the answer now is to get Ferdi or Hinshelwood to specialise in that position long term even if it’s not where they’d rather play.

Well.

They can't because they are all injured

Had one of them been fit they would have played and all these terrifying sights of our 16 stone centre backs getting dragged out wide to deal with pacey wingers would just be some fever dream
