[Albion] Is it normal for 30% of our support to leave when we go 2 goals down?

I started to leave on about 85min but it took me about 5 min to get down the gangway, completely blocked by fans who decided that they all wanted to be with their mates and not sit in their designated seats. So it was about 90 min when I got out.
When we scored I thought I was watching the Cheese Rolling in Gloucestershire, as they went tumbling down the gangway, arse over tit. Surprised there werent any casualties but guess the alcohol numbed it. Welcome to some nice sore, bruised bodies in the morning.
Great night. Got soaked walking to the game and in the dark and walking back through the park, successfully located the largest puddle available and finished the night with soaking wet feet. Oh....and spent too long watching the flakey, ineffective and utterly useless Adingra fart about most of the night, miss three decent chances and wonder why he started over both Rutter and Minteh.

As someone who rarely does away games anymore (1-2 a season) I was a bit shocked by this. Is this what happens now?

Especially at a ground that is comparable to getting back to Brighton as the Amex is. I kind of assumed it would be different with our hardcore away support.

Really can’t remember anyone leaving Rochdale / Plymouth / Carlisle etc with 10 minutes to go when we started losing.

Thank God these people weren’t with us in those days, I guess.
It's up to them what time they leave.

Can understand it if you were driving I suppose. But the coaches won’t leave until everyone is on board and, while my train home from Clapham was horrendous, I’d have had to leave 30 mins earlier to get the previous one.

Probably just a default / reflex action by some to the third goal. We conceded three really poor goals so I can’t bring myself to judge anyone who got pissed off with it.

I used to go to most home and away games in the late 90s and early 00s. Like you I don’t remember many people leaving before final whistle back then. We spent many seasons losing more often than not, so maybe our expectations were a lot lower, and in turn we didn’t feel as compelled to walk out?

The number who used to go to aways back then was a lot lower….maybe we were the more hard core section of support and less likely to depart whilst the match is in play?

Brighton factually.....

This is a major factor I think, there was maybe high expectation last night, maybe not to win (nothing is a given in this league) but at least a good performance. The formation was a concern, Adringa's total lack of commitment tracking back or being effective going forward, a silly mistake early on by Bart, the team was crying out for a change at least 60mins, the way we dropped off after the equaliser all built the frustration and when the third goes in, the body language was there for all to see, I fully understand folk throwing their arms up in the air and heading home, totally natural reaction.

On TV it looked like the British monsoon season in full effect. Goes 3-1 down with two minutes to go... yeah I would have had intrusive thoughts about a bathtub and a cigarette and quite possibly f***ed off back to wherever I came from ASAP.

I turned the tv off when the third went in, best part of the evening, other than Pedro’s lovely flick and Baleba’s goal was being able to turn off the shouty abrasive voiced woman’s commentary and just watch with crowd noise.

She did my nut in. Spoke loads. Said absolutely nothing of note in her blackboard on nails voice.

The cherry on the top of a shit evening.

Improving. Dad is out of the hospital, which was the main thing and main worry. My two hospitalised grandparents are terminally ill however, both quite keen on going but with bodies clinging on for no good reason. Past the stage of mourning and sadness at this point and more in the "time to go" zone, so not a massive headache.
Thanks for asking

Yep, agreed. Which was kind of what I was getting at in my clumsy drunken ramblings.

I’m confused by this ‘pain to get to’ thing about Fulham though. It’s a 5 minute train from Putney to Clapham Junction and then direct to Brighton. It couldn’t be much easier for an away game, could it?

We were looking to see if we could turn off the commentary because of her. The audio options were limited.

If the event has multiple audio options to choose from, once you've pressed play, select "Audio and commentary" from the menu and choose one of the options. Some Connected TVs require you to select your "Audio and commentary" choice on the event's information page before you stream the event.

On my way to the match I saw Dougie Freedman get off a tube at Monument station.
Clearly a bad omen.

I should have turned back and headed home then.

Didn’t leave early, but having stood through the game in soaking wet trousers and feet and seeing the third goal go in if I wanted to I would have, and won’t judge anyone else for doing so

Agree with this, Fulham has two train stations both with over 10 trains an hour stopping at them. I don’t know why people say they left because of the trains, just say you’ve left because we weren’t very good, and we were 3-1 down. The metal gymnastics some people come up with is on occasion strange.
