[Albion] Fulham vs Brighton & Hove Albion *** Official Match Thread ***

Challenge the establishment is all well and good beating City United and Spurs even running Liverpool close but its the lesser teams that need putting away which we're still very unable to do!! Knowing us we'll lose to Leicester and Palace then go and win at villa although Villa is by far the toughest game out of them.

Fulham are not a lesser team.

Before the game I called the selection wrong and I regret to say I was proved right.

Playing a back three to accommodate Dunk was simply wrong and the balance of the team suffered.

I hope that Fab learns quick this season and amends the process ! Am not over reacting but reflecting that we have missed out so many points.

After spending £200m I thought we had a good chance of qualifying for European football. Let's hope we make it.

I know stills don't show the whole picture - but it's a clear shove, and takes him away from where the ball then went.

"The performance is not the result so I think that we have to be honest that it was good enough to win the game. We were punished for easy mistakes and you can make them in football. In the end, we created enough chances to win the game. We didn't get what we deserved today."

"It's the same principle every time we build up. We repeat it every day in training. Again, it's football. The players have to find a solution. We have to keep pushing."

"I saw it. I think blocking in the box, there are no clear rules. Sometimes the ref gives a foul, sometimes not. There are no clear rules."

"We get the points we deserve but today was not the case so we look to Sunday instead."

I thought we looked like a team of strangers this evening… no cohesion at all.
Our general play lacked urgency and it almost felt like we were playing a friendly. Biggest gripe though is that with the exception of couple of the guys, most looked backwards for a pass rather than forwards more often than not.

OK, teams below us in the table
But Albion are 5th at the moment. Are you suggesting that should be their natural level ? I don't think it is.

There are four teams below us at present who have squads that are, at the very minimum, a match for ours. There are other teams who will challenge us.

The only thing we can guarantee is that this squad is too good to go down and certainly good enough to end up halfway or a bit above. But there is a lot of quality in the league in general.

I just woke up, oh dear, was expecting a draw at worst.
The stats show a close game, the score doesn't.
May watch after work.

Oh I agree with the quality in this league. Fulham were done by wolves recently 4-1 and even tonight, they didn't play well. Marco de Silva wasn't impressed with them but happy with the 3 points. They are a good side.

They were beating JPVH for fun up to his removal, and a second yellow waiting to happen. And he was passing to Fulham forwards.
Yeah I thought he should have moved back to CB & Lewis come off - they targeted JP and the gap behind him all game. It was an odd formation with some big holes!

They are a good PL team. We have no divine right to win at theirs but we have better players, a better squad. We have a WEAK (incredibly weak) mentality.
A team with a weak mentality doesn't come down from 0-2 v Tottenham to win 3-2 or 0-1 v City to win or to hold out with 10 men away v a very decent Bournemouth side. They do need to learn to toughen up in moments like tonight but a weak mentality is wrong.
