Hitherto dross Southampton in the second half tore us apart on the counter, pundits were furious this week that officials ruled out their second. Whilst Fulham were gifted opportunities tonight, Verbruggen/Dunk/JPVH weren’t at the races, little defensive system down our right, Adingra incredibly lazy.

Will FH now address this?

I got the high risk “we’ll win 3-2 thing”, but our vulnerabilities just now are obvious in real time and FH lets it play out.

Like it or loath it, in the PL some pragmatism against savvy opposition coaches is shirley a must. They’ll now have videos of what Russell Martin and Silva did as templates.

As someone else stated our January slump has started early, i fear for us in the next two games as the defence just looks so vulnerable

He needs to drop Dunk and play a back 4 for a start. Can we please get Veltman fit again?
We did play a back 4 tonight? In what way was van Hecke anything but a right back tonight, and adingra anything but a standard right winger?

I'm equally confused by the calls to drop Dunk. Maybe I just had the wrong match on

We played three at the back, mate. Dunk central, Van Hecke right centre back and Igor left centre back. Adingra (right) and Pervis (left) were wing backs.

He changed it to a back four around 70 minutes when Lamptey replaced Van Hecke, went to right back, leaving Dunk and Igor as the centre backs and Pervis at left back.

The TV put that formation up, yes. But the reality was that Adingra stayed high and van Hecke stayed out right.

I bet Adingras heat map will be a mirror of Mitomas

Adingra modelled his game on Lamptey … he didn’t bother with the “back” bit of the job title.

JPVH and Julio have had a decent CB partnership going whilst our beloved Capt has been out injured.
Just because he is fit, it doesn't mean he has to be played, when we have a decent system working.
You wouldn't suddenly drop in in form Welbz for Ferguson.

He played as a wide centre back, yes, but this was part of the problem. Adingra was too advanced, which pushed O’Riley infield. Take a look at Van Hecke’s position out of possession, he was man marking Munoz their centre forward more often than not.

Our only clean sheet in the past whatever games was Dunk and Igor against Newcastle.

Adingra was very advanced, yes. O Riley was very central. That has to be the managers decision. No way was he playing as a wing back.

Yeh I get that, but we've played really good with CB pairing of Julio and JPVH.
Yes, but we've also ballsed up against Wolves and conceded a lead against Saints with those two. Dunk is our captain and leader and needs to be on the pitch. Its possible that Igor might have forced his way ahead of van Hecke, because he is left footed.
