I got about 6 and a couple I’m not sure of.

For serious quizzers!

This things is always ridiculous. Just did Round 1 and got 3.5 (giving myself a half point for getting a name slightly wrong)

Edit: just looked at the next 2 rounds and don't have a clue 😢

1.5 is fairly easy
4.4 is straight forward history

I suspect @Gwylan will get a lot more than 2 without Google
The Guardian used to publish this on Christmas Eve. It marked the official start of Christmas for me: I'd have finished work, my dad would have finished work and we'd crack open some beers and set about tackling it. I remember one year, getting ten out of ten in one round and it was the highlight of the holiday.

I still do it every year but with a touch of sadness. I don't know my highest score - it's something over 30, but it's a tough quiz

Just had a quick read about the quiz (mainly to answer the question I've always had about it, "why?"), and noted this sentance in the Wikipedia article:

"The quiz is popular with non-pupils."

I feel like this claim could do with some qualifiers. :lolol:

7/8 max. Confirmed thicko
I'm not sure a low score on a quiz like this means you're a thicko.

If you took a bunch of people with the same IQ, I reckon you'd see much higher scores on average from those who went to a public school or grammar school compared to those who went to a comprehensive (all else being equal*).

*ceteris paribus for those who score well on the quiz :lolol:

I like a quiz, but these kind of questions are just not in my wheelhouse. I got 2 of the first 4 questions and 4 of the final 6, but absolutely NOTHING other than that :)

Normally a thread on that when it's released. I've completed two of the last three. Last year was films so I didn't bother at all. Not my strong point (unless you count dodgy 80s movies with multiple sequels, the 90s movies of Tarantino and crap animations my kids made me sit through).

That normally appears around the middle of December. Hopefully it's a return to form after slightly disappointing efforts the last couple of years.

Managed to get the first one immediately, having read the magnificent book 'Into the Silence'. Highly recommended.

Will try some of the other questions during my break for lunch today.
