19-year-old Brazilian midfielder with Flamengo.

Reports we want him in the January window and have already met his representatives in The Grand (Hyatt, Barra da Tijuca).

The reports say he is interested in the move, but wants a guarantee that he won't be loaned out to another club to gain experience. Hmmmm.

hmmmm indeed, I am not sure any young player can make those kinds of demands unless they ae seriously talented like Peter Smith was.

It's a very odd demand to make when you consider how successful the model has been for us and the players themselves. We've loaned players like Victor Gyokeres, JPVH and Buenonotte - none of whom have struggled to carve out a handy career at the top after going on loan. I tend to agree with @Mr deez, it'll be some dick head agent punting this rubbish.

Indeed. I don't get why you wouldn't rather go and play in front of 15-20,000 people for a year at a slightly lower level and get ten times the amount of game time than you would play for the under 23s in front of 200 people for a year.

I take it players do not have an option to refrain from being loaned out to another club?

Playing in the Championship in front of 15,000 isn't as exciting after coming from the biggest club in South America playing in the Maracanã every other week.

But yes, he's not in the position to be making that demand.

Sadly l think perhaps it already is. A shame though, l think he still has something to offer.
I think we all wanted him to succeed, but at this point, I suspect we've moved beyond him. It might be the same for a few of those fringe/U21 players. It'll get harder to break into our side if we keep doing well and mopping up high quality, young foreign players.

And if we are going to maintain our model of finding gems for relatively low sums, and selling them for far higher sums, we'll need room in the "shop window" for those talents. Again, this looks like squeezing out Sarmiento etc.

Hmmm indeed - and a bloody great big HHHMMMMMMMMM in my opinion! If he's got a prat of an agent who's leading this, there might be a path back for the lad, I suppose.

It'll probably be down to individual contracts, but I very much doubt that a club is going to force a player to go on a loan if they don't want to. That wouldn't benefit anyone - parent club, player or loanee club.

I think he's Alzate 2 (electric bogaloo). Not quite reached the standards needed for our current circumstances but some of our fanbase are still expectng he'll somehow come good.

A club cannot force a player to go on loan if they are dead against it. The club could refuse to select the player, but a player can't be forced to play for a club they do not wish to play for.

In this situation. Just ignore the whole player does not to be loaned thing. We have no reliable account that this is the wish of the player

as 10cc say, not in hove
So player for large Brazilian club is wanted by us, and doesn't fancy being farmed out to say Blackburn. Can't say I'd blame him. Obviously he'll need to be richly enough compensated to accept, seems straightforward
