Went to see Paul Heaton last night. Amazing gig with superb support from The Zutons.

Before I went, I saw the setlist for Glasgow. We had the same apart from the intro song. In Glasgow they had Flower of Scotland. So I wondered … would he … and yes, he did.

As they were coming on stage we had GOSBTS. I started singing with ‘Now is the time for marching…’ - which seemed to confuse the hell out of the people near me. Unfortunately, I didn’t hear anyone join in, which was a shame.

The young girl - Rianne Downey - he found on YouTube to join the band is a master stroke. Incredible voice and suits the songs perfectly.

Anyway, it was a fantastic night filled with and incredible array of songs going back to the Housemartin days.

Paul’s new solo album is also bloody excellent btw.

Rianne Downey is a great artist in her own right and has played Brighton several times at the Great Escape and her own shows. Well worth checking out, I'm delighted she got this gig, Heaton is a gem.

I keep telling anyone who'll listen - nobody knows the words to GOSBTS unless they are on a screen! :ROFLMAO:

Completely agree. I saw her earlier in the year at The Hope & Ruin. Felt so sorry for her as there were only 50 people there tops. She has the most amazing voice for such a tiny person.

I had a choice of complimentary seats for Heaton or Daltrey at The Dome. Hope I made the right choice in Daltrey, but Heaton sounds like a missed opportunity.
