Late to the party but congratulations to McKenna. He’s got his way, gets to see through his project while earning a top salary with none of the expectation of immediate success he’ll have had at Manchester United or Chelsea.

Even if the PL goes badly for him, he’s set up on a high paying contract another club would have to match to take him from Ipswich. With no expectations of success he can go straight back down with Ipswich, and easily jump into a club like West Ham, Villa, Newcastle etc depending on what’s available at the time.

Or he can keep them up, get a respectable finish in the league and his stock climbs even higher

He’s played an absolute blinder really, good for him

I’m so glad we didn’t go for this dullard.
TBF fab is pretty dull as well.

I want to hate McKenna but feel like he won the manager battle yesterday and had his side incredibly well set up. I can see why bloom likes him now. Next stop man u for McKenna.

Different jobs to do though. We don't know if McKenna could have made our team score or Fab could have done more than just a clean sheet for them.

I’ve said it before and will say it again I hope they go down. McKenna was clearly our number one choice, reading between the lines it seems he had given some assurances to Paul Barber he was coming. He chose Ipswich, not as some of our fans seems to believe because of loyalty, but because he believed he could get a top six job next summer if it went well and bypass us all together.

Well good luck to him, he snubbed us so hope they drop like a stone.

He has probably peaked. If he'd have taken our job who knows? He'd have died on his arse at Utd.

His stock will head south very quickly this season and be another almost but not quite.

Assuming he stays in the gane will go full on journey man in the lower leagues.

That is a lot of assumptions in one post! 😂

He’s clearly a good manager, he’s done an amazing job there but it was always going to be difficult for Ipswich as it is for every promoted team. They’ve still got a good chance of staying up and he’ll still have a lot of credit in the bank even if they do go down anyway.

A lot of unnecessarily snidey posts here. McKenna brought Ipswich up from level 3 to the Prem in successive seasons, having been highly rated at Manchester United (enough to have him as a candidate for manager in the summer). He’s very clearly a talented coach and his team has made a positive impression so far this season, despite their league position.

His chief crime seems to be his team not letting us score against them at the Amex, and worse, being beaten by Palace last night.

We don't have many talented English coaches. Let’s not crucify the few we do have.

And he showed loyalty to the club that gave him his big chance.
He hasn't done much wrong and I wish him and Ipswich every success.
They have a lot of parallels with the Albion.

Agree. He also got a massive pay rise reported 5 million a year which helped his decision! I believe he would do a similar job that Fab is doing with the talent we have compared to Ipswich even though we couldn't beat them!

Yes I think he may regret that decision. Unfortunately we played them early when they were still playing with enthusiasm. These teams tend to always collapse around Christmas. We could have done with Cooper not being sacked either as Leicester are now on a new manager bounce.

We'll be playing West Ham on a new manager bounce soon too ffs.

His Ipswich team were woeful last night. I know the likes of Burns ans Morsy are miles off having the quality to play at this level but McKenna is the one picking them. I’d imagine he’ll go the same way as Edwards at Luton.

No, I think he's a very good manager. Still wouldn't be surprised to see him here one day. Maybe he will be the one?!
