Seriously can we have one away day when the bloody trains are running. Is that too much to ask?
Hey, I don’t work for the railways, I was just suggesting an alternative route 😂

Anyone else considering a winter break with the wife and kids, in East Anglia, across the Norwich and Ipswich dates, or just me? 😎
Just you

Can't think of Norwich without remembering the bloke I met in a chippy up there just after we got promoted. Unusual conversation...

Norwich fan (seeming genuine) "Congratulations on going up"
Me "Ah, thanks very much"
Norwich fan "Yeh, enjoy it. You've got no chance, you're coming straight back down"

Bit too much vinegar on his chips! Hope he's enjoyed watching us in Europe, Must be relishing the chance to see a decent team play live in January.

I've never been to that neck of the woods for a holiday, indeed it has never cropped up as a place to go. Would love to do a canal barge trip but January may involve cracking the ice each morning. Spoke to my wife after the draw (the same wife who had Rome & Athens booked 5 minutes after the draw) and she came back with an instant NO!

Norfolk and Suffolk are great places to visit. Norfolk coast particularly, and parts of Suffolk feel like stumbling across the "green and pleasant" land of mythical England - if you've ever seen The Detectorists that's all filmed in Suffolk. This chap writes about Norfolk history and landscape and Norwich too, and writes so well I wish he'd do a book. Worth a look through the site before a visit anyway if you like that kind of thing: https://www.invisibleworks.co.uk/landscape/

A 3-bedroom place with a (shared) pool for £350-£400 for 7 nights vs. driving to Norfolk/Suffolk and back twice in the space of a few days is fairly tempting TBH. All really depends on when the cup game is...

Sh1t draw. Bananna skin if we dont put out a strong enough team. No chance of being on TV. How many when draw made live in the Manure camp gave a shout out for Salford sh1ty when drawn at Mancheater City
Disagree. We should win comfortably, based on our trips to Boro and Stoke, and it's a new ground for me. Bit of a shitter about the trains, but I'll be doing Dry January anyway so driving isn't a drama.

Apart from lacking a rail museum, Norwich is at least the equal of, say, York: a lovely medieval town to visit. Then you also have the broads. Sorry, the Broads.
