Bowling a wicket maiden in my first over, that is not just my first over of the match but my first over in the best part of 20 years, having generally failed to pitch it onto the wicket in the much earlier attempts.

Your achievement is somewhat downgraded if she wasn’t pregnant before she set off…. 😹
I've just been looking through my files and online to see if I can find my time. No luck so far, but this article confirms PR ran 10km in 43m.

What I can remember is reaching the finish, going through a mist spray cool down zone, and nearly passing out with the effort!

I've still got the t-shirt.

I'm afraid it looks like you have lost your extra run. @hans kraay fan club is correct. I did my best to get it back for you 😭
Isn't this exactly the issue with overthrows that England had in the last over of the World Cup final (without the stumps being hit and redirecting the ball)? It's from the moment the ball's thrown, but a) nobody ever remembers that and b) even if they could it's pretty much impossible to tell unless you've got a chameleon umpiring who can look in two directions at once.

Fact is, if it's in the book, it counts. Can't question the umpires decision (fortunately, because I'd have had all the LBWs I was awarded reversed if they were subject to review :lolol:).

I ran the Manchester marathon once (and I strongly object to the description above of people doing 4:30 as "stragglers" :lolol: ).

In cricket I once came in for the last over or so and hit the opposition's opening bowler over their head for four two times in a row. I feel I should confirm, for the benefit of people on here who have actually seen me bat and struggle to believe this, that I'm not making that up. But they had opened the bowling with an off spinner.

I can indeed confirm having seen you bat, that I do struggle to believe this!

I peaked at about 9 or 10 years old.

I played for a half-decent Worthing Dynamo team at the time. We were good compared to many of the other Worthing-based teams but regularly found it tough against some of the East Sussex-based juggernauts in my age group (Hove Park Colts, Old Town Boys, BN Wanderers, Eastbourne All Stars, etc.).

We were often the 'nearly-men', getting late into tournaments but never quite making it over the finishing line. However one Sunday afternoon at Kings Manor School, we made it to the final of a six-a-side tournament vs Eastbourne All-Stars. 1-1 at full-time and the game goes into extra time. With 1 minute of extra time remaining, I received the ball in our own half, took it around a couple of players and then proceeded to lash the ball in top bins from just outside the box. Cue epic scenes and parents' limbs flying everywhere. It was the only tournament we ever won!

Coaching my son's team we got to 3 finals but unfortunately lost them all. He doesn't play anymore 💔
Recall Hove Park Colts and Old Town Boys being levels above everyone in our age group during the 90’s

I was a relatively good sportsman growing up, playing county football and the like, but for me, the highlight will always be breaking 80 for the first time playing golf. I never broke 70, but for someone who was always a casual player growing up, it was quite the highlight.

As a bowler, I can confirm that I have never met a batsman who was out LBW. I can remember a few who weren't given.

Played at the Goldstone before a testimonial match back in the late 70s. Scored a goal in front of the
North Stand. I couldn't believe how big the pitch was and how much space I had on the right.

As a 23 year old I scored a Peter crouch-esque overhead kick against a team 14 year olds down my local park. I think we lost something like 15-3 😀

None at all, but I was walking in Hove park with Porky the incontinent wonder dog on a lead, when a football came out of the sky. Somehow I managed to instantly trap it, without letting go of Porky's lead. The players on the pitch gave me a round of applause !

Very similar . . . At my lads football U14's game i giant drop kick went out, I had the dog on a lead . . . . I think I dropped it . . .Cushioned it off my thigh, then side foot volleyed it to a player to take a throw . . . Tried shrugging it off like it was normal 🙄

I'm not a hugely competitive physical kind of person . . . As my dad said, built for comfort, not for speed. Played squash a bit, and pretty good at table tennis . . . . And pub 'sport' My proudest sporting moment REMF . . .that 1st game at Southwick was quite special, and I tried really hard. To not be shit really!

have had some success in historic motorsport, which is far more involved than most people think ( sitting on your arse wiggling a wheel ) asides building and preparing a car, driving competitively is pretty intense . . .

I ran the Paris marathon on one Sunday at the start of my running days and then did the London marathon the following Sunday, both just sub 4 hours. I struggle to run for a bus now!

Stupidest decision was running the London marathon 3 days after giving blood. 🤦‍♂️

Reading some of these exploits reminded me of one other I definitely must mention. It was in Lens in 1998 outside the stadium when England played Colombia in the World Cup and Beckham scored with a free kick and did that silly expression in celebration. Before the game they had lots of things going on outside the ground and one of them was a ‘how hard can you kick the ball’ competition. Basically you had to kick the ball as hard as you could against a flexi wall and it measured your speed. I was with 2 others who went first and they came in with respectable speeds similar to others, around 70kph or something like that. I then had a go and I completely flunked it, it came in at a rubbish speed about half of the others much to their amusement.

Well, in full Chumbawamba style I had another go- I don’t know what happened but I must have caught it right on the sweet spot and it blitzed in at over 100kph, I think it was actually around 125kph, sending me right to the top of the leader board. I looked around and in the crowd watching was the Blackburn and future England manager Roy Hodgson no less who was applauding my fine effort, as were others. Get the f*** in! I stayed watching for about another 15 minutes and no one got anywhere remotely near my score and I even heard others in the crowd whispering about me saying ‘that’s the guy who hit 125kph’….

A real highlight where my sporting prowess came to the fore (probably aided by a faulty calibration on the machine, but I like to think otherwise!).

I used to live next door to former Crawley goalkeeper Scott Shearer whilst he was playing for Rotherham. Nutmegged him for a goal against my garage door with a can of beer in one hand.

I also beat Steve Beaton in Warwickshire pool league. I know he plays darts but still.

I also own a cricket bat which was once previously owned by Suresh Raina.
I beat Steve Beaton in a round of golf at Hellidon Lakes GC about 30 years ago.
