Is there anything particularly gammon twaty about what Wallace has said and done?

Unless I've missed something (and I've been paying only vague attention to this) the sort of behaviour he's accused of is, unfortunately, not by any means limited to the sort of people I'd file under that description.

I said earlier in the thread, pervs can be any male, any creed, ‘class’ or background. Look at the Oxfam workers who abused childhood age females in the Caribbean. Women in the UK London based music industry have spoken out about the endemic casting couch (rape) culture.

Sorry, we may well disagree on this, but the things he's been accused of are EXACTLY the type of traits I would file under that description (although, agree completely, not limited to that description)

I'm guessing it's not trite shit if you're the one on the receiving end of his comments!!

… like you. On here commenting on Gregg Wallace’s antics.

All these women, moaning about their trite allegations. Tsk.

I just wish that at least one news source was still reporting on the Syrian situation instead they are all just focusing on Gregg Wallace. It’s all Al Jazeera are talking about.
I have 3 daughters, a wife and had a mother so I am all for making sure women have equal rights and are protected from those who might want to take advantage of any kind but especially where that might be of a sexual nature.

I am, however, not sure this thread of the forum was actually doing much to improve the situation especially when we don't know the exact nature of the complaints. Was it telling risque jokes or was it indeed 'touching up' as implied on a programme this morning.

People coming out saying its old news , not surprised about it , appearing in the know and did f*** all about it, maybe they are the ones who should be under the microscope.

Let me clear I am not a Greg Wallace defender - hate master chef and similar- , don't think abuse is right but do think we need to make sure we handle it promptly and directly not via trial by the media.

If I have offended people then sorry but i do think its more of a media circus rather than an attempt to improve anything.

Who on this forum is trying to “improve anything”

It’s a thread about a news story. A story that has wider implications.

If you believe it’s simply a story about a cheeky bald greengrocer who likes to tell dirty jokes, you’re mistaken. There’s a bigger picture.

Anyway. Here you go; see if this thread is “improving” anything.

There’s an interesting piece on Sky from a former contestant who is claiming it was endemic in the whole programme and Wallace is effectively being made the scapegoat

If I any of us acted in the same way in our place of work then we’d be sacked. It’s not about being cancelled, its not about a media circus it’s about behaviours that are unacceptable in the work place.

Offended?

Hardly.

But your 'unless this is important enough to change the whole way we view workplace safeguarding we should just shut up' narrative seems a bit needlessly defensive.

Why not talk about it?

There’s a post in this thread with a link to known allegations. Find it and read it.

So you know exactly what he's done? When did you come into that knowledge?

If you had read my comment properly I said I am not defending the guy what I am commenting on is the circus media selling clicks which this thread and a lot of it's comments are reflecting.

Where did I claim to know what he’d done.

I know exactly what you’re commenting on and my advice was to leave this thread that you claim to think is pointless and go to the war threads which you have said are more important.

No hard feelings. No argument. I’m merely questioning why you are spending time on a thread you have declared a waste of time.

Anyway, it’s been a long weekend and I have a much coveted night off so it’s the pillows for me. Apologies for any misunderstanding and have a peaceful night.

Agree, what we should be talking about is how this shit can be stopped. Maybe it can't and what we need to be looking at serious punishments for people who abuse it and later caught out. Also why are their allegations which appear to have been swept under the carpet. The offender is one part of this story but if his bosses knew and did nothing about it they need to equally punished.

Thanks I look that up. There was an article on the BBC indicates one set of complaints from 2011. I know 13 years ago the corporate environment I worked in would not tolerate it but plenty of organisations then were still behind the times so certain things would have been 'tolerated' which wouldn't now. Not condoning it just commenting.

Sadly, I don’t know about that. My teenage daughter the subject of middle age pervy staff (managers) at a well known supermarket. So much hasn’t changed. An interesting thread on the Everton forum about the same subject really, some say it’s now getting worse …. possible reasons; the likes of Tate encouraging manhood, cocaine, the Incel thing, internet porn giving the impression to blokes that all women are objects.

Is it fair to say "He's a geezer innit" as a reason these days or is that a bit outdated?
