Agreed. Same with Klopp. Easy to say how nice he is, how well we are doing blah blah when we roll over and have our bellys rubbed against the big teams

Pep obviously knew something about Potter that we didn't back then. Certainly don't roll over against the big teams now.

We have never rolled over against the big teams under Potter or CH for that matter imo. Under Potter we have gone toe to toe with them from GP’s very first game against City. We may have lost 4-0 (?) but we gave them a game.

I don’t think Pep was ever being condescending in his praise of GP either

The closest I’ve seen the Albion to rolling over in the last couple of years was at the end of the last game of last season against Arsenal

I just heard the Pepsickle asked about the 'sacked in the morning' chant from Liverpool supporters.

He said he 'expects' that sort of thing from Brighton fans, but not Liverpool.

Cheeky fugger.

The chant was a little late. I had been expecting it a good ten minutes earlier.

Pep rebutted by raising six fingers to the scousers.

Bringing it back to the Potter theme, he clearly doesn't know his history. Here is 2-4 of the all time winners list.

The fact he has commented on this mockery suggest he is rattled.

Oh dear. How sad.
Never mind.

Also, before City found beheader money, they had won it twice. That's the same as Preston and the Twats. And only two more than Brighton!

Stupid bald nob should know better than to react like that - it is fatal to show that it hits home. I’ve never much cared for him and I’d love to see how he’d have got on on a shoestring budget. Sadly I doubt we’ll ever find out.

Strange club really. Apart from a three year period in the late 60s, there was never much to cheer. Although I think, but for one more win, they would have been worthy of the title in 1977. A bit like Newcastle, one would feel they have spent most of their existence underachieving.

I don't really think of post 2009 as part of their real history.

If Pep walks from City and they decide to go with an interim manager until the end of the season (they're switching DoF), this thread could get weird... in case it wasn't previously.

Did he say that?

The City boss, standing in his technical area, responded with a smile and then took his hands out of his pockets to hold up one hand and one finger to indicate the number of titles City have won under him.

"I didn't expect that at Anfield," Guardiola told Sky Sports afterwards when asked about the "sacked in the morning" chants.

"I didn't expect it from the people from Liverpool but it's fine, it's part of the game, and I understand completely.

"We've had incredible battles together. I have a respect for them.".

"All the stadiums want to sack me, it started at Brighton [on 9 November],"

"Maybe they are right with the results we've been having."

How much weed does one need to smoke before suggesting Graham Potter as interim manager of Manchester City?

Ah
A little bit. I admit.

Lets hope they stay far away from the new hot thang though. If we're ahead of them in a few weeks and Pep heads out, its straight into nervy town.

Unfortunate. Would have been the best compliment we've ever had from him.

I definitely heard the same interview on Radio Five Live, not Sky and he certainly did say it.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about the Liverpool fans chanting "You're getting sacked in the morning": "They want to sack me. I wish they were more kind.

"Why didn't they do it at 0-1? Why didn't they do it last season when we won the Premier League? Why do they want to sack me now?

"I didn't expect that from Anfield, for other clubs like Brighton I can understand it.

"But for Anfield I didn't expect this, maybe it is the respect we have. They know we have won six Premier Leagues."

That was a different interview. I was listening to BBC radio

Guardiola at this moment doesn't understand that the chant at him is a backhanded compliment. No fan is going to miss a once in a lifetime chance to sing that at the most successful manager of modern times. He asks for respect without realising that in English football fan terms, he's just had it.

Everyone heard right. He may have said something different in the third lot of interviews to the rest of the media.
