Even though our draws against supposedly inferior sides are incredibly disappointing at the time... they're still more points on the board, at the end of the day.

Having only lost two league games so far, against Chelsea and Liverpool, is very impressive.

It also goes to show how far we've come, when Premier League draws sometimes feel like defeats - and we feel disappointed that we could drop out of the top 3 today.

Villa and Chelsea more than likely a bore draw.
Citeh are like a wounded slug, oozing pity in reference to injuries, so I expect another draw.

So if Liverpool do what's expected and Villa put one over Chelsea we stay 3rd with no-one having a game in hand on us.

Have we ever been this high in the top flight this far into the season before? I can't recall it.
No. We were third in 2023 after the standard benchmark of six matches.

Albion have a habit of good starts in recent times. But they don't normally last this long.

3rd, 4th, 5th…….doesn’t matter at this point and I really don’t care. We’re miles ahead of our best ever start to a season (and something like 12 points up on the head to head fixtures so far compared to last season apparently), there’ll be loads more great results and disappointing performances. Gotta just roll with it

That's lovely an' all, but I'm still pissed off we didn't beat stains.

Absolutely agree with the overall sentiment, but we're actually only one point ahead of our best 13-game start to a season, which was last year.

So am I. See also: Ipswich and Wolves.

However, if someone asked me how many points we'd pick up from...

Man City (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Southampton (A)

...I'd probably have said 5 or 6.

Hindsight shows we got Man City at the ideal time, but I'd still have taken a point. Bournemouth are a bit of a bogey side and were in good form themselves.

So, seven points feels like a great return - I'd just not have expected them to arrive in the sequence they did.

I know you're right, but I'm still pissed off. Emotions aren't too logical.

I know we've had some disappointing results, but 4th place at the beginning of December, above City on goal difference, 5 places above ManUre and Palarse only just out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

It doesn't get much better than that.
