Weird they were there when the away end had quite a few empty seats?

I’d hazard a guess these live local although originate from Hampshire, NEVER go to matches (except this one as it’s on their doorstep) have had one too many, totally unaware of the procedure when in the wrong end and their lack of match going knowledge means they think it’s fair game to show off. Probably the worst type of people associated with the game.

The funniest 'away' fan yesterday was the person in WSU wearing a Magpies bobble hat with some encouraging people to steal it off their head. Why would you go to BHA v Southampton wearing that ? None queerer than folk !

Given for the most of the season I've had no one next to me (my luck will run out soon I have no doubt), I'm probably not one to ask. But had an away fan plonked down next to me, as long as they are civil, don't scream and shout and celebrate their team over zealously, don't burp and fart, then I really don't care. Its just respect really...

Did everyone get the clubs email covering this and the away ticket forwarding?
It’s pretty clear and will clear up the idea that it’s ok for away fans to be in home sections for those who are ok with it

Yes - and I shall be ignoring the claptrap within it.

yes and it's pretty clear also that if there are away fans who aren't wearing colours and who aren't acting in any way, form or shape to give away their allegiance, then no one can do anything about it, which is how it's always been.

AWAY FANS IN HOME AREAS
In recent seasons, our stewarding team have had to respond to several difficult situations involving away fans in home areas.

Away fans in home areas is a breach of Premier League and Football League ground regulations, which as member club, we must adhere to. Feedback from supporters also shows that a large number of fans don't wish to sit with away fans in the home end.

Therefore, we operate with a zero tolerance approach on away fans in home areas. Supporters who are found passing their ticket to away fans will be subject to a match ban as per our sanction policy.

Please be reminded tickets should only be passed on to other supporters via official channels, using the ticket exchange or by upgrading or sharing and assigning your ticket to the new owner, as this protects all involved.

If you're aware of away supporters in home areas, please discretelylet the nearest steward know so they can take appropriate action. Please don't try to intervene.

PASSING ON AWAY TICKETS
Sadly, we're finding a number of supporters are still passing on away match tickets, as this season there have been several arrests and ejections of supporters whose details don't match the ticket owner’s details.

As a result we're now be forced to reintroduce random ID checks at away turnstiles moving forward; and some tickets will randomly be retained and held for collection at away grounds with matching photo ID required for collection and entry.

All fans are reminded that away match tickets are for the sole use of the assigned owner, and the reason being those supporters who are attending games without the sufficient loyalty points are blocking legitimate attendees from buying.

Any supporter found to be passing on away tickets will be subject to a match ban as per our sanction policy.

We'd like to apologise to the vast majority of our supporters, who adhere with our ticket loyalty scheme, for the inconvenience this causes.

1901 Club members must continue to provide the details of the attendee for any away tickets they purchase. This requires a first name and surname to be provided at the time of booking and this name cannot be changed after the sale has been completed.

Sorry my mistake it was meant for you
Okay, and I'm sorry if I misunderstood, but I think a quiet away fan will be unnoticed and undetected. As far as other types, I completely disagree with them being there and it annoys the hell out of me, once I had a West Ham fan asking me to stop shouting loudly and I was at home in the East Stand!
