Everton apart under RDZ it was normally wave after wave of attack, we beat Wolves like 6-0, Sheffield Utd 5-1 or something tonight we lost the second half. I think we all know under RDZ and this squad we probably win most of those against Wolves, Ipswich and Southampton. And he trusted Enciso to do the business and was usually right.
FH seems to like a 1-0 win we didn’t get going second half and with defensive subs at 1-1 wtf was that about get attackers on he took them off.

Don't you remember in 22/23 season:
1-5 loss to Everton at home
3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest
Draws with the relegation teams Leeds and Leicester

And what did we do after the Everton game? Played Arsenal off the park. I’m not sure how anyone can moan about results with more than half the squad sold or injured last season.

Second half their widemen taking the piss out of Lamptey and Estupinan found support down the middle, the equaliser was coming, we fell apart to Stains counters. Thank fck for the offside.
Hardly think this was fault of Lampty or Pervis. In the past when wingers couldnt get back FBs had support from Gross and recently Baleba. Last night both O Riley and Ayari were both at same time often further forward and neither played DM role. Weiffer was outstanding in this role in Holland and should play there when Baleba unavailable

We have beaten Man Utd , Spurs and Man City at home , and yet can’t win against 2 promoted teams , nor Forest or Wolves

Tbf lots of teams are winning against Man U, Spurs and Man Coty this season. It’s quite entertaining.

By my maths we are exactly on par with the 22/23 season. Different results, but same total points from the same set of fixtures.

Everton (a): 22/23 season: W, This season: W, Points diff; 0
Man Utd (h): 22/23 season: W, This season: W, Points diff; 0
Arsenal (a): 22/23 season: W, This season: D, Points diff; -2
Forest (h): 22/23 season: D, This season: D, Points diff; 0
Chelsea (a): 22/23 season: W, This season: L, Points diff; -3
Spurs (h): 22/23 season: L, This season: W, Points diff; +3
Newcastle (a): 22/23 season: L, This season: W, Points diff; +3
Wolves (h): 22/23 season: W, This season: D, Points diff; -2
Liverpool (a): 22/23 season: D, This season: L, Points diff; -1
Man City (h): 22/23 season: D, This season: W, Points diff; +2
Bournemouth (a): 22/23 season: W, This season: W, Points diff; 0
I've been keeping track of this too. Think it's a far better way of knowing where we're at than the usual 'after 13 games we had xx points'.

Swapping like for like new clubs based on where they finished in the Championship, I have us 4 points down on the European qualification year.

We are, however, a whacking 13 points better off than last season.

One on ones, shirley they can win a load of them. Ferdi and Velts manage it, it’s in their footballing dna. Chanelling the winger down the place they don’t want to go, safety.

O’Riley had no positional discipline yesterday and I would have subbed him at half-time. Perhaps it was instructions I don’t know, but Ayari spent a lot of the time 1 vs 2.

On their goal, once again Igor tried to win the ball too high up and was out of position, he did get back but the damage was done. He was my MoM until that point.

Think it was a mistake not playing Weiffer from the start. He’s the closest we have to offering what we’d lost in Baleba and thought Ayari and O’Riley struggled to control the middle of the park.
O’Reilly was all over the shop. And whilst I think Ayari is better further forward, he was excellent in controlling the game first half.

I can’t say I’ve seen more than the odd instance where Weiffer’s offered anything to suggest he’s good enough to be back up to Baleba when you look at our other options. At the moment, Ayari has much more credit in the bank than Weiffer.

I would much rather draw against the big teams and win the others , the disappointment of keep drawing against teams down the bottom of the league is so much larger than drawing against the bigger teams

I'd agree that Ayari has performed far better than Wieffer this season, but the point being made is that Wieffer has more of the attributes than either Ayari or O'Riley does that we require in the absence of Baleba.

We didn’t have a midfield in the second half , Saints completely controlled the midfield in the second half and caused us a lot more problems than we did , very disappointing performance especially the second half

Caused by Baleba be unfairly sent off

I think we were a bit hamstrung by the subs last night because players like Lamptey, MOR and Joao Pedro haven't played much football recently so were likely to tire. The biggest problem was the lack of full back cover. With Ferdi, Hinsh and Veltman all missing this left only Jacob Slater, so it was either bring him on and play one of him or Pervis on the wrong side or have a CB covering the right back position, although if he's on the bench then you've got to put your trust in him rather than just having him there to make up the numbers.

The manager seems to be adapting well to English football, he binned the high line so if clearly flexible with his decision making.
Thought he got it wrong last night starting with O'Riley.
I presume Lamptey was knackered, but playing JPVH at full back was strange. Could we have played a three and wing backs? I suppose not as Saints seemed good second half down both flanks.
