[Food] Restaurant 2024 thread

Went to Palmito last night, and can understand why it's being raved about. I won't go quite that far though.
The food is great, but the place is a bit cramped and uncomfortable: tables not really big enough to hold plates, glasses, and the small plates that arrive at well-paced intervals; tables crammed very close to one another. The drink offering is OK, there's a few interesting wines on the list, a nice cocktail, but a few disappointments too.
To the food then, which is tapas, Latin American style:
topopos (tortilla chop style) with a salsa rojo -- really good
papads with mango and mint -- good but £4.50 warrants a bigger portion
stuffed padron peppers -- pretty good
grilled sweetcorn w/ chipotle mayo -- excellent
oyster mushroom tostada -- OK
crispy haddock tacos -- oh, yes
middle white tacos with cheddar -- ditto
crispy potato with spinach salsa -- pretty good
Ended up turning down the dessert, and walked along the road to Fourth & Church. This stretch is stuffed full with restaurants, most of which had one table filled if that. It was a Thursday night, people are saving up for Christmas, and it's the week before pay day, but I wouldn't fancy the chances of many of these joints in the new year. The busy exceptions were Palmito, Wild Flor and Fourth & Church, which are some of the jewels in the city's restaurant scene.
We had space, several further glasses of better wine there, some cheese, good service and company. I'd still rather spend time at 4&C than anywhere else in B&H.

Which reminds me...what's the best restaurant open on a Monday?

As to the Monday thing, we had this a few months back as it was my partner's birthday on a Monday and really struggled to find one of our favoured ones that was open. Ended up going to Permit Room, which we weren't wild about.

It's Paul we know too. We didn't rate the Permit Room too highly either. MrsBC is of Indian subcontinental heritage so is difficult to please on restaurants serving that type of cuisine, although as she's stuck with me for so long, she is more tolerant in other aspects.

Any ideas about a venue pre-match at CC. I've been to a few pubs in the vicinity, and they're really expensive and am yet to find one with sufficient charm. So, are there any options within a 30 minute walking distance of CC? I'm thinking either of a pub that does really good distinctive food (rather than the menus that you can predict) or, alternatively, a relatively cheap (maybe Asian, etc, but don't want to restrict it to that) restaurant ideally with a few nice drinks.

I know most on this thread like it there and it was absolutely cracking but three notable things to mention:

1) We took along another couple who were Bincho virgins and slightly sceptical. They absolutely loved it (favourite dishes, the cauliflower and the chicken skin were re-ordered).
2) We got the table fairly last minute as a result of a cancellation. So, much like our away tickets, always worth further checks if they're full when you initially look. And...
3) The service was absolutely superb. Our waitress was fantastic and got a large tip. Bincho has been good at this whenever we've gone but a lot of places post Covid have had high turnover and poor quality front of house. So this was noticeably better than a lot of other places I've eaten.

Oh, and with several beers, two glasses of red and three sakes between us the bill was still only £50 a head before tip.
