For the record I was born in 1969 in Rustington but was adopted from the age of 2 months and at my new home in Brighton by Christmas 69, lived here ever since, i’m a Proud Rustonian
That's been my experience of RM, too.Met him a couple of times when Bobkin Jnr was part of the Russell Martin Academy (now Foundation) and he came down to meet the kids and spend a bit of time with them (and check out how his staff were doing, I guess). Seemed like a decent bloke, so good luck to him this season (apart from tonight, obvs).
Ok you’re in, have you managed Brighton in the top flight? For the record I was born in 1969 in Rustington but was adopted from the age of 2 months and at my new home in Brighton by Christmas 69, lived here ever since, i’m a Proud Rustonian
No chance, Rustington would be my first choice, Brighton is full of wannabesOk you’re in, have you managed Brighton in the top flight?
To me it means someone like myself that was born and grew up in Brighton, similar to someone that’s known as a Geordie from Newcastle.I think we need to determine the definition of a Brightonian. I have always said, that the spirit of Brighton is a transient city, you only need look at our early history to see this but it still holds now. so living there and making it your home, qualifies you imho.
Proper Brightonian.I was born in Buckingham Road maternity hospital (long since demolished) and anyone born any further from Brighton Station is not a true Brightonian as far as I am concerned. Woolybacks.
A good point. I need to work on this.Well if you go by that lose definition...*sucks some air*.... Graham Potter.
Vote for me, and I’ll see that you get a Brighton passport.I wasn’t born in Brighton but have lived here since 1969, I’m guessing that definition leaves me a bit ‘stateless’ now
Vote for me, and I’ll see that you get a Brighton passport.
He seems like a thorougly nice guy in interviews etc. But like I said he's got that "hi friend do you want to try kamasutra with me" energy that makes him seem a little... soft and odd. Most likely a decent manager as well, can't see anyone keeping this Southampton squad up.Met him a couple of times when Bobkin Jnr was part of the Russell Martin Academy (now Foundation) and he came down to meet the kids and spend a bit of time with them (and check out how his staff were doing, I guess). Hmm, not sure I agree but then that's from a selfish point of view - I was born at the Royal Sussex, delivered by none other that Dr Trevor Mann himself (before he gave his name to the SCBU) and have lived here (other than on hols, obvs) all my life. I DO feel like a true Brightonian. And I am unanimous in that.I was born in Buckingham Road maternity hospital (long since demolished) and anyone born any further from Brighton Station is not a true Brightonian as far as I am concerned. That would explain why I once sat on the next table to him in the restaurant of the old/now no more Cisswood Hotel. I had wondered.I suppose if you extend the definition of Brighton a bit further north, Jimmy Hill lived in Hurstpierpoint for many years too.
Or be like my next door neighbour - born here and lived here all his life, but supports Man UOn the other hand you could be born in Brighton and lived here all your life but support Liverpool, in which case I think there should be a separate ruling to get you disqualified!
Potter then?I think we need to determine the definition of a Brightonian. I have always said, that the spirit of Brighton is a transient city, you only need look at our early history to see this but it still holds now. so living there and making it your home, qualifies you imho.
I know what you mean I was just teasing! What about Bruno? He managed one game for Chelsea and lives in Brighton for quite a while and embraced the values of the city....A good point. I need to work on this.
My issue is driven by the fact I know a number of people who were not born in the city but I consider as “Brighton” as anyone else you could name. I also don’t like the idea of being stuck with, and defined by, your birth place. That’s seems pretty tedious to me although I appreciate that for some types, this is all that matters.
So. Maybe a specific set of time, and proof you have fully embraced the values and ideals of the city? Obviously the criteria for proof will be set, and judged, by me. How’s that grab you?
Thought he was a good listen in the after match interview, rational, intelligent and backing his team.He seems like a thorougly nice guy in interviews etc. But like I said he's got that "hi friend do you want to try kamasutra with me" energy that makes him seem a little... soft and odd. Most likely a decent manager as well, can't see anyone keeping this Southampton squad up.
I was just mucking about.Hmm, not sure I agree but then that's from a selfish point of view - I was born at the Royal Sussex, delivered by none other that Dr Trevor Mann himself (before he gave his name to the SCBU) and have lived here (other than on hols, obvs) all my life.
