Sevilla expected to exercise the break clause in Barco’s loan agreement in January, we’re said to already be looking for a new club for him.

This is really disappointing. The lad has great ability and potential, I hope we can find somewhere for him to start to fulfill it. I wonder if we brought him over too soon? Maybe another full season in Argentina would have benefited him more than coming over to Europe at 19.

I have a feeling that he is a left wing back, or left midfielder. Sadly, I’m not sure Hürzeler wants those sort of positions covered in his team.

Barco may have to learn to be a proper left back if he was a future here in whilst Fab is at the wheel.

It is far to soon, to be judging him, he is just 19 and another loan to a similar style team like Ipswich or Southampton might be better. He can then learn the physical aspect of the English game rather than the slower Spanish style, which I think has worked against him over there, rather than benefiting him.

Only if you have enough common sense and perspective to choose the right person as a life partner at age 20.

I certainly didn't, but not everyone is as much of a tit as I am.

Agree with this.

Your brain doesn't fully develop and 'mature' until your mid-20s and from personal experience (and for many), your outlook on life and figuring out what you want in a partner, career, etc isn't formed for most at such a young age.

Most simply don't have the experience to have developed an informed opinion on many things or have the cognitive ability make sense of it all.

Another reason why younger players need to be given some leeway when their life choices and on field performances are not perfect...

And even then it will remain shit throughout your entire life.

Getting married at 20 is a bit alien to me. If you move from home at 18 or 19 you basically spend your entire life in captivity.

Interested to know your views on Barco - why Sevilla has not worked out, how do you rate him, what would be best for him after January, even what his best position is? Do we develop and then profit or will he be a part of Albion’s future

I rate him very highly and not too worried about his game time or performances for Sevilla. There aren't many 20-year-old or younger full backs - Rico Lewis and Jack Hinshelwood are one of very few exceptions - starting games in the top leagues. 280+ minutes is ok given that he'll learn something every minute at this stage of his career.

Sevilla is a skint shipwreck at the moment, they don't have the players to make up for a couple of naive youngsters, so mistakes often get huge consequences. In a Sevilla side trying to play one of the slowest versions of possession football I've seen, Barco doesn't fit in and is too much high risk/high reward.

I think he'll be recalled in January and sent to France, Germany or Championship.

In the not too distant future I expect him to be a world class left back but given his adventerous style of play its certainly not going to be a smooth ride.

I suspect that although game time is useful, so is getting him acclimatised in Europe. Bringing him over at 19 and having him go on loan to a Spanish-speaking country was a smart move, I just think that the level is a bit too high at Sevilla.

The kid has huge potential and he could learn masses about what's needed to succeed precisely by not succeeding at Sevilla. He now needs to learn those lessons, adapt and improve

Whereas sitting at home, on the internet. eating pizza to the early hours is the epitome of freedom. I would however agree that getting married at 20 is a tad young.

Here we go again :nono:

Back to Barco, probably in vain, but I thought some of the comments here after a couple of promising sub appearances were slightly overrating him.

Hoping for a better loan for him from January until June.

Well. I was one of those excited about his ability and his potential. And I still am.

The loan move appears not to be working out. Fine, this happens a lot. Get the lad back in Jan and we can re-think the best next step for his development
