Not convinced by Mr Lampards- high profile player does not always equal good manager-and he hasn't really done much to improve a team in previous posts-just tread water really

He gets a rough ride imo.
England legend who always turned up and gave his all.
He did well at Derby.
Struggled at Everton, along with pretty much everyone else who tried.
Not great at Chelsea but it was a strange gig.
He comes across as a decent bloke who has a genuine desire to succeed in football.

Yeh, i don't get the antagonism. He always speaks well, and analyses interestingly. I think he could do well in management.

I think he did fine at Derby (with a great squad) but a combination of media hype (“Frank Lampard’s Chelsea”) and the fact he has failed in subsequent jobs makes me think it’s just not going to happen for him.
Agree about his conduct and I hugely admired him as a player. But the truth is without his name, he wouldn’t be getting the Coventry job if that’s what indeed happens, and hiring on reputation without (even distant past) successes rarely works out.
Somebody has to rise above "never done anything overtly obnoxious" before I start wishing them well.
And by "wishing them well", I mean not wishing them any specific harm.

Well I just know for sure the tanning and nail bars in Coventry are going to be busy, now fat Frank and Christine are in town!
Terry has been reluctant to step into a hot seat and was reported saying he thought a 5 year apprenticeship would be wise. He's sticking to his word so far.... two stints as assistant to Dean Smith at Villa and Leicester, currently Chelsea academy coach.
So it may be too soon to write him off as a failed manager. Of all the ex England dinosaurs, I thought he might make a decent head coach, but maybe not.
Perhaps not the most precision-engineered piece of equipment in the kitchen utensil drawer, though.

Fair play to him I say. Plenty in his position would say they only wanted to work in the Premier League. It was ridiculous him getting Premier League jobs in the first place. But him, Rooney and Terry are doing the right thing by working lower down the pyramid now. I think the days of random big name players getting Premier League jobs are over now, thanks to people like Potter and Hurzeler.
Hopefully this it now the norm, and ex Premier League players will start having to learn their coaching trade at the right level, which will eventually lead to some top class English managers finally coming through.
