[NSC] Being an NSC Patron (Annual patrons, please read post 336)

Bozza, thank you for accepting this foreigner into your online family. My son chose to support Brighton 4+ years ago when his friends were exclusively Big 6 fans. Brighton has taken over a large part of our lives- from watching each match or listening in the car thru the Albion app. His Christmas present 2 years ago was to see a match at the Amex. The NSC has helped us learn the history of the club while also keeping us informed about everything from injuries to transfers- we feel connected. That is deeply appreciated. We now have a small but growing group of friends that pull for Brighton - and proudly tell us after a win. It’s all because of you and the NSC crew. Thank you!

Hope he had a fantastic time, what was the match and did we win? As a matter of interest, how does watching an English Football match compare to watching live sport in North Carolina? Many differences?
Nick- that picture was New Years Eve 2022 when we lost to Arsenal 4-2. It was closer than the final score- Mac was resting after the World Cup and Caicedo was out. We had a goal disallowed… incredible atmosphere.
The only sporting events in the US that come close to the energy of EPL matches are college football games between the biggest rivals in the South or Midwest. (where we do not have as much professional sports as the big cities on the coasts) For example, the University of Georgia vs Alabama or Ohio State vs Penn State. While the passion and energy are similar- the biggest difference are the songs. In the US, most of the noise is led by the team bands. In England, obviously, it is the crowd. So, the energy feels more natural and crowd-driven and less scripted or “sing along to your team’s fight song.”
My son and I saw Messi’s last match for PSG at Parc de Princes and the visiting ultras were far more intense than any Arsenal fans we saw at the Amex. Shirtless, drunk drummers throwing cups and lighting flares throughout… very different atmosphere- on the verge of riots. We never see that level of primal rage at US games. Thankfully

the only thing that comes close to the European Ultras in the UK is the seething mass of passion from the dozen or so Palace Always Ultras- assuming their Mums let them stay out and are wrapped up warm, had their hot chocolate and its not before school the next day, because then they have to be in bed by 9:30
