Johnny Kidd plus Pirates....

....Way before my time, claimed to be the father of heavy rock, partly to due his guitarist Mick Green.

....Any of the more senior members of this board have a view on this, may even saw him live ??

I will add Mr Bowie but RnR f*** off!
Given the original poll started with Paul Weller in (who I love but also isn’t your classic rock n’ roller) I thought Bowie was a fair suggestion given his incredible and legendary career that yes, isn’t rock n’ roll like Robert Plant or Ozzy Ozbourne but still more rock n’ roll than Neil Tennant 😂

I won't be listing Neil Tennant I'm afraid

At the end of my tether
I went confidently to the poll to note my choice but when I saw the list and was reminded of the great British depth of talent , I wavered. How do you compare Freddy Mercury with Bruce Dickinson or Robert Plant in his Led Zep days ?
So different but all brilliant….
I love ‘em all.

Indeed. Saw Bruce back in May on his solo tour and his voice was I think better than on the current Maiden tour. And my god his female bassist Tanya O' Callaghan was great. Not only fit but just a little fierce and totally in the pocket with per playing.
