We have an Alpha combi boiler approx 12 years old. On Thursday morning the heating came on but there was no hot water. Later in the day there was hot water. This pattern has continued. There is no hot water when the heating is on but even if the heating is off in the morning / early afternoon still no hot water. Later in afternoon or later evening when the heating is off there is hot water. Is this the diverter valve failed? Alpha are coming on Monday. At the service a few months ago they said there was evidence of a build up of sediment and it needed a power flush which the plumber could do as a private job. I got a second opinion from an established local firm and was told it wasn't necessary and in any case pipework too small for a power flush. Im expecting Alpha to say on Monday that I should have had a flush and that the fault isn't covered. Any thoughts please.
I did think it was odd asking plumbers for advice that early on a Sunday morning, five minute job reply didn’t get posted until after an hour.
