It was a poor decision as was the Brentford sending off. Leicester should have had a couple of players sent off with reckless tackles flying around.

Wasn’t at the game but curious how Evan contributed after coming off the bench. Would bringing on McConville for Welbeck notwithstanding his inexperience and switching to a back five as we did at SJP have helped avoid conceding the consolation goal?

It was great to see McConville on the bench!
It's getting harder and harder for the youth to get called up at the moment as we have an abundance of quality players.
Tho I think Evan was the right choice. We already parked the bus and needed fresh legs in that slot (Evan can play midfield)

Did what was expected of him - held the ball up well, harried in midfield. To the blokes stood near me slagging him off for not pressing their keeper, we were down to 10 so isolating himself with a pointless lone press would have left a gap in the middle 🙄

Agree to disagree then. Sorry it was a foul but not a booking. Look at it another way, he was always going to rack up 5 booking at some point. Southampton H not the worst game to miss!
Having watched it on MOTD I really can’t see the foul. He doesn’t make a tackle, he’s just running.

Brilliant result. It wasn't an excellent performance, but collecting another three points shows the amazing fighting spirit of this team. Our defending was great, Pedro and Mitoma were clinical and we also had a little bit of luck! Disappointing with Baleba, but I'm sure this team will achieve something special this season. UTA!
This is something I like about us this season. It feels like there have been a few games where we haven’t been the better team but we have been the more clinical team.

How can it be an honest decision to book someone for a foul he has not seen?
Quite easily, from the angle he was at, it looked like a foul and a second yellow. As I've already said twice, he called what he saw (and having seen replays, Baleba did actually catch the player)

Definitely NOT the time (or the game) to bring on McConville - Down to 10, Bournemouth all over us, speed down both wings, pissing down with rain, high winds - a true nightmare situation!! But great that he got experience of the first team match day environment.

Re-watched the highlights a few times now, and the more I watch the goals, the better they get.

I would even go so far to say they are amongst the best Brighton goals of all time, incredible skill all round. This is the best Brighton side of all time (so far).

The first goal was elite one/two touch play involving top class forwards with great rapport with one another and at the top of their game. It was an elite build up.

The second goal, great finish from Mitoma of course... but pay attention to Pedros HEAD. He deceived the entire Bournemouth defense by looking in another direction when making an absolutely pitch-perfect pass, Ronaldinhoesque.

What a time to be an Albion fan.

That's the amazing thing about this season so far. Even when we've not been at our best, we can still produce two goals of such incredible quality. That's what the top teams who win trophies do (not getting carried away ftr!)

He's not missing Southampton because he's had five bookings - he's missing Southampton because he got two yellows (and a red) yesterday. The count towards five yellows still goes on - neither of yesterdays count towards the five, as they will have been punished by the ban against Saints.

Agreed - but it was a shame we had the red card, otherwise we might have been able to give McConville (or Samuels) a few minutes.

I see that you were flying Emirates - they show Premier League games 'live'
Was on my way back home to Australia on the Dubai - Sydney leg and found I was able to watch the Leicester v Spurs match played on the Monday night of the opening weekend.
Perfect vision & audio, no buffering at all.
Maybe they don't have enough channels to cover all the Sat 3.pm kick-offs ?

No way was that a second yellow card or even a foul but Baleba is going for that with his wrong foot (his left as always). I think the thing that swayed Atwell's mind was Arola's reaction on the sideline. Look at it. Fab got sent off for worse V Forest. He was really protesting which added into the ref's head that there was something there that wasn't. Such a shame but not the worse game to miss. Plus, I feel Carlos needs to stay grounded and fight for his place. His performance when he came on V City was another level above everyone BUT he was coming on fresh against an ageing City team who'd played 4 games in 10 days with no rotation.

I like Weiffer and want him to do well. The positions he picked up again yesterday was good BUT it still seems all a bit too quick for him at the moment. Also, he hardly sprinted out to block Semenyo's effort as the last kick of the game. You don't want him diving in (giving away a penalty) but he just jogged out to him. There's moments like that and Liverpool's third where you are just like, come on! Anyway, I hope he can come good because he could really help us.

We shouldn't have got overloaded like that for their goal (even with 10) but we're Brighton and it's never straight forward.

We are doing so well.

Same thing happens when I watch our second goal against Man City.....it just gets better and better......
