Gods country fortnightly
Decent read, those with money always have the loudest voices

Budget grudges will calm down, but every day brings a reminder of how dire was Labour’s inheritance, how hard it is to repair desperate public services, and how small but powerful lobbies resist blindingly obvious reforms. As for those little farm inheritors on toy tractors, they are perfect exemplars of this week’s report from the Resolution Foundation on the rapidly rising impact inherited wealth has in accelerating wealth differences in the next generation.

Yep and Keir Starmer runs the country. It's an absolute shit show. Farmers protesting a Labour government after less than 6 months in charge. All on top of the perception of them attacking the pensioners.

It's embarrassing to watch as someone who voted for them.
I suspect Starmer has his ‘fixing the country’ hat on rather than his ‘getting re-elected’ one.

Instead of getting a generational spin master talent such as Alistair Campbell in, they got Sue Gray who cares not for spin and perception, only discipline and conduct. This left and is still leaving a massive vacuum.

The messaging void is being filled by the billionaire owned right wing media as well as MSM because Labour is so useless with its spinning.

Gammon are spitting bricks when a poor farmer (with a public school accent) can’t inherit a farm worth around £10m but now having to pay £100k inheritance tax over 10 years or sell 10% of the massive estate.

The BBC factcheck is being attacked by frothing thick ****s because the experts they consulted predicted 500 farms per year could be affected instead of the 70,000 farms per year the NFU wanted put out. Guess which figure got the most media? The one the billionaires dreamt up to dog whistle simple country types or the figure obtained by independent experts?

The thing is, Labour have not done much wrong. Comparing their performance with that of the Johnson and Truss governments is stark. Starmer’s new glasses or the glittery gown bought for his wife by her GBF (and Labour donor) will be forgotten because the mud does not stick with such trivialities.

However, they must get an Alistair Campbell type figure in ASAP to lead the fight against ignorance and spin.

This thread is evidence enough that the most selfish right wing c***s are getting all the airtime (as they did in the US election). It doesn’t matter what you say sometimes, it’s just about people seeing your message in a way the resonates with them. Labour’s messages are indigestible at times, they need someone to add a spoonful of sugar. Let’s hope a storm soon brings in a Mary (and not a Bert) for them to cure their ills.

Would help if BBC Fact check got it right the first time, does nothing but fuel those calling it out.

Christ. You are complaining that the BBC didn't publicize the liars' lies fast enough?

Have you already forgotten that not so long ago we had Johnson as PM?

I guess you think they are 'all the same'.

Not sure I follow this. What did they get wrong the first time?

BBC Verify said the Government's figures about the number of farms affected by the policy were "likely" to be right.

But the corporation has since deleted its backing of the claim that only 500 farms a year will be affected by the policy from its website amid a bias row after Sir Keir Starmertrumpeted the BBC piece.

Which is what Starmer quoted the other day as backing him before removing.

If the Telegraph is correct and there was no impact assessment run, they won't really have much of an idea of the true numbers affected

Why did they remove part of the claim?

If they got it correct in the first place they wouldn't have to.... which is why certain groups are triggered.

Have you read the BBC article linked by me though? This is from yesterday - and basically says that they are sticking by their initial statement / assessment.

So - they seemingly weren't wrong.

I'm not triggered.

Are you triggered?

Certain groups can do one
