Another nominee for the female category and another blast from the past is Scottish rocker Maggie Bell, vocalist for Stone the Crows.....

Her vocals might be more familiar to those who enjoyed TV detective dramas in the 70s/80s as she sang on the credits of long running tv series Taggart and not quite so long running TV series Hazell....

Her vocals also featured in yet another TV detective series, "Lewis" when she provided the singing voice for Joanna Lumley's character in the episode "Counter Culture Blues"

Just voted Chris Farlowe in the hope of facilitating some hat eating.

I was probably too young, and my mind was on other things 😂, to really appreciate Led Zep by the time John Bonham died in 1980, but as the years have gone by, imho there is only one winner in this poll.

A kindred spirit amongst us on NSC, as he helped save Kidderminster Harriers, Robert Plant is the greatest British Rocknroller, for both his voice and stage presence. (and his hellraising obviously)

Confusingly-worded poll, as others have said, as only a handful of these would even make it on to the fringes of any kind of ‘best singer’ poll.

But if the factor we ARE judging is ‘rock n roll-ness’, then it’s got to be:
- In a genre of ‘rock’ music, more or less.
- Factor in stage presence, charisma etc - genuine x-factor, not the Simon Cowell show.
- Have an element of hell-raising, debauchery about him/her too.

Which for me, whittles it down to the likes of Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger and Robert Plant.
