Beggars belief Redwood got knighted, the archetypal lazy Tory in a safe seat. When things got tough he bottled it

The constituency boundary changed in the last election so Dead Wood was not going to be my MP after the last election anyway. The Lib Dems took a shock win, in the true blue area of Wokingham. But yes, he had bottled it before it had got to that.

1, taxes were far higher -- and far, far higher on the wealthy -- in 1945-79, and economic growth was much higher too. To add, going into this period, government debt was at 250% of GDP, it was veering towards 50% by the end of it.
2, throwing money at the NHS was exactly what New Labour did and this fixed it, while public satisfaction with the NHS improved remarkably alongside improved outcomes
Giraffe has shoved his head up his arse, and with that length of neck I doubt he can hear you. Or indeed anything.

I see the ignored members are back from work* and telling how it is.

Every day is a school day, and every thread now appears to have a new comment that, mercifully, I cannot see (but there is an alert on the inventory page, which I can see).

Heartwarming.

*Well, the parks have closed now.

I have hope that they will, we need nhs waiting lists to come down and I believe they will.

If inflation stays low then they have a chance.

The thing i do know is that I’m very glad we still don’t have a rishi government - that would have been a disaster.

My gut tells me that whatever they do the right wing press will make it look like they are shit and the goons will get out and vote for them.

And the "ironic " thumbs up facility still seems to be functioning and visible.

<sigh>

I hope it was fun in the park.

Quite how you haven't been banned by now is beyond me, just can't stop digging at people and then throw your toys out of the pram and proudly announce that you've put them on ignore. Pathetic and childish.

Why is it always the ones who claim they can’t write what they want on here and that free speech is forbidden, always scream for people to be banned?

Perhaps just get on with saying what you wish to say and don’t get so upset about other people’s opinions.

Or they could put the source of irritation on ignore like I do, which is why I have no idea whose tears you are commenting on.

(I hope they were big fat angry tears, by the way. The tears of 4 more years in opposition, powerless and bereft :lolol: )

I’m very glad we don’t have May, Boris Johnson, or Truss, or May, or Rishi in government for the upcoming war years.

It would be a disaster.
I would be interested to see how Rishi did without a party broken and full of bat shit mentalists behind him, he seemed quite sensible on the whole.

Personally, I don’t agree. Couldn’t stand the wet wipe.

But not the worst of the bunch.
He went into politics because he saw an opportunity to make a difference.

To his wife's tax status, mostly. And his a bit, too.
