John Byrnes Mullet
Global Circumnavigator
RIP John. You kept your promise.
There is now - very well written too.Nothing on official site re a tribute/ récognition. I hope we are not going woke
It was.So had to hear he had dementia. It's hard to fathom. So cruel.
There is now - very well written too.
I was thinking that if you put together a list of the top 5, maybe even the top 3, most influential people (in a positive way!) in the history of Brighton and Hove Albion, he‘d be on that list. Enough said.A formidable politician who's heart was in the right place.
I hope he didn't suffer and he was able to look back over his life with fond memories.
That 'yes' was off the scale in terms of importance.
RIP
Very nice tribute from the club. Where would we be now without him?
Hazel Blears worth mentioning too who gave the final “yes”.I was thinking that if you put together a list of the top 5, maybe even the top 3, most influential people (in a positive way!) in the history of Brighton and Hove Albion, he‘d be on that list. Enough said.
Mullery, Knight, Prescott, Bloom...I was thinking that if you put together a list of the top 5, maybe even the top 3, most influential people (in a positive way!) in the history of Brighton and Hove Albion, he‘d be on that list. Enough said.
Adams MK1 for getting us out of the bottom division and setting us up for a back to back promotions tooMullery, Knight, Prescott, Bloom...
I would add Martin Perry to the list.Mullery, Knight, Prescott, Bloom...
AgreeI would add Martin Perry to the list.
It may be a legitimate view but posting it on an RIP thread shows you to be a bit of a dick.Nope, not me. Just someone who thinks that the life of innocent Iraqis deserves some sort of recognition. Appreciate that seems to be a niche opinion, but I'm pretty comfortable with it
Having seen the potential binfest on here I did read William Hague's heartfelt tribute today.
He also posted this video of 2 people who disagreed but clearly had respect for each other
In between John Prescott and Hazel Blears, Yvette Cooper, kept the ball rolling.Hazel Blears worth mentioning too who gave the final “yes”.
Reading this thread and JP’s contribution to where we are now and the brilliant last 14 years is just so massive. No beautiful stadium. No Premier League. No European tour. No Mitoma/Welbeck/Caicedo/Mac Allister (World Cup winner) et al.
So much hinged on the We Want Falmer campaign and the brilliant work from everyone involved, from Paul Samrah to the whole committee to every single person who marched, sent postcards, letters and flowers.
Getting a bit emotional. Second time in a week after Stand or Fall.
