During my forced migration to the north through my school and early teens from about 84-87 I used to go and watch Wigan Ath play if Brighton were not playing in the north or midlands. Springfield Park was a dilapidated state and the crowds were between 1500-3000 possibly up to 4000, but that was it and their limit, Dave Whelan threw money at the club, and Wigan Ath benefited from that excitement and in correlation the Wigan Rugby team slid from the perch of number one Rugby team and had their own financial issues forcing them to sell their Central Park stadium and move in with Wigans all new purpose built shite hole.

Hated most of the Wigan fans, of football and rugby, proper Neanderthals, and every time I went, I went in the away end.

OK I get it. Something about mentioning Wigan triggers a competition to see who can type the longest sentence without punctuation.

It isn't me.

I wasted my youth at school, being dragged up north at the age of 11 had it's draw backs and I felt compelled to not pay attention and seek it instead.
That and I am dyslexic, I write random letters and numbers from the bottom up.
I am slightly retarded

That would make you advanced, surely?

Conversely - I always enjoyed Wigan awaydays. Decent pubs, proper locals - and no aggression. And great pies. It's a funny place though Wigan - one of the very few where I still felt like a southerner. I think it's because no-one actually moves to Wigan, so those that live there are born and bred pie-eaters.
